After half an hour of tugging along the ship finally pulled into the secluded beach. Rangnar was resting in the sand shouting insults at the crew, while the others who had chosen to swim were drying off. It would take time for the crew to unload the boat and for the captain to give orders so Jasper set about making dinner. Noticing a tree near the bay burdened with heavy melon sized fruit, Jasper boldly plucked the rich purple fruit. Holding the heavy bulb to Monty's nose he asked, "What do you think sweet enough to eat?" The cat purred his agreement and rubbed against the fruit. Jasper had been told since childhood never to eat strange things he had found. "Never really learned that lesson" He thought cutting through the thick shell with his cleaver. An almost overpowering sweet smell hit his nose at juices flowing from the cut. Jasper took a bite of the ripened fruits flesh. "Nope, much to sweet for our master, and not enough resistance for a melon. Though I see a soon favorite among the crew." He reported to his cat. "Don't be discouraged Monty! I never expected the first thing we sunk our teeth into would be the answer to our quest! Now let's get dinner going shall we?" He told the now bored cat as he set about starting a cooking fire.
