As brash as your statement is, I agree. The entire point of a freeform RP is to make a story using multiple authors. If the GM refuses to allow for player autonomy, he is a [i]bad GM[/i]. Railroading is something that should [i]never[/i] be implemented, regardless of how much the GM likes the story he's made. If your story is derailed, tough luck. Try and salvage things, and see where the story goes. If the players' derailment has caused the RP to grind to a halt, introduce plot hooks to gently nudge the players onto a more productive route.
