[quote=@Danko] Sorry for the double post but I've got a character sheet pretty much put together. This is the first draft so I may revisit certain parts and change it up. [hider=Marco de Meneses] Name: Marco de Meneses Age: 26 Gender: Male Birthplace: Ericeira Religious Affiliation: Catholic, though prone to hedonistic indulgences Secular Affiliation: Kingdom of Portugal Level of education: High, Marco had tutors for most of his young life. He was educated in both Lisbon and London. Social status: Nobleman Occupation: Infantry captain. Appearance: Marco is tall, around 6' in height, with black hair and dark eyes. He is clean shaven and tries to present as clean and elegant when possible, however being a soldier by trade he doesn't shy away from getting dirty. He has been lucky that he has no significant visible scars on his body, the only major scar he has is on his upper chest, caused by a musket ball. Personality: Although noble by birth, Marco is not pompous and do not look down on people from lower social classes. He has spent a lot of time with soldiers under his command and has an affinity for people of the lower classes as well as being able to socialise or deal with those from his own class. Generally, Marco can find common ground with people he meets and tries to deal with people fairly. He is usually fairly affable, if he is crossed or anyone he cares about are in threat he fights ferociously. He is also a lover of pleasure, whether it be drinking with comrades or loving beautiful women, when his duty is done Marco will seek to indulge himself. Skill set: Marco is a natural leader and leads from the front, he does not ask anyone to do something he would not do himself. He is experienced in combat and battle, having spent his adult life in an army at war. Marco is a skilled swordsman, horse rider and is skilled in using a pistol, he learned these skills both from his upbringing and through life experience. Marco has spent time among the nobility of both Portugal and England and knows how royal courts work and understands the intrigue that is present in any court. Languages: Portuguese, English, French and some Spanish. Bio: Marco was born as the third son of Fernando de Meneses, 2nd Count of Ericeira, he was raised in the coastal village until his 6th birthday when he was sent to Lisbon, where his father spent much of his time, in order to be educated. He was taught many of the classic arts as well as practical pursuits such as fencing and horseback riding. Although he was not always a patient student of academia he very much enjoyed his martial education and his father, who was a military man, encouraged him to begin training to join the army. When he turned 12 he was sent to England to further his education in London, he was fostered by some distant relatives. He was educated at Oxford University for a number of years until his 15th birthday when he was sent back to Lisbon and joined the Portuguese army. He accompanied his father on border skirmishes with the Spanish forces. It was in these skirmishes he learned the trade of a soldier and he knew early on that this was the life that he wanted. Marco grew quickly among the rough, tough soldiers under his father's command and they all liked him due to his eagerness to join them in battle. When he turned 18 he was allowed his own small command and continued in the border skirmishes where he truly learned the art of leading men in combat. In the following years when larger scale battles became more common, Marco was allowed less freedom as the commands were given to men with better family connections or more experience. It was not until his relative António Luís de Meneses, 1st Marquis of Marialva, faced the Spanish in the Battle of Ameixial that Marco was again allowed a command of his own. He was given command of a force of Scottish and Irish mercenaries and he led them in the battle. He distinguished himself and impressed any of his fellow officers, both Portuguese and the foreign officers that had been hired. He continued leading a mercenary force for the following campaign and was given a promotion to capitão (captain) shortly before being wounded by a musket ball that struck him in the shoulder. He was sent back to Lisbon and was then moved on to Sintra where his cousin was staying, he took residence there while he recovered. He had almost entirely healed when the dragon appeared and burned the town to the ground; he had managed to escape its wrath by seeking refuge in the castle.
