Brenna The cab pulled up in front of the manor. A young woman, or what looked like a young woman, exited and paid the man. He was middle-aged and working to care for his family. She smiled and gave him a generous tip, enjoying his surprise and excitement at what the extra money would buy his kids. He didn't need to tell her any of this. That was what was handy about being able to read minds. Brenna headed inside, relieved that her key still worked. She called out when she stepped into the foyer. Even though she was deaf she could still make sounds. No distinguishable words, but sounds all the same. She reached out with her mind, trying to feel anothers, but there was no one in the house. The feeling of apprehension, the feeling that had pulled her from school to come home, the feeling that her family needed her, grew stronger. Where was everyone? Hoping they, or at least Alistair, would be back soon, the deaf vampire went into the living room and curled up on the large couch, waiting for her family to return. Blood called to blood. Brenna reached out with her mind and the call of her blood to the leader of the family and her sire : Alistair. I am home
