Elementals, a legend that dates back further then, well no one knows when it started but its lasts legends have been during the medieval times. stories about beasts made from the 14 elements them self, and while the natures of the beasts varied one thing was always the same, they were territorial and have ravaged entire cities, some were even more powerful then that. Yet as with all legends, it is seen as just stories and while certain information go's missing in time it leaves great tales. But not all legends are just tales, some just end up being more real then you can imagine.... --------------------- Welcome To In the Shadows, Exposed! (ES for short) in this rp we are all of a different race hiding among humans as we have been doing for thousands of years, yes we are the true elementals, creatures who hold the power of nature in our DNA. we start the rp basically as individuals that either already know each other or meet each other during the story, but not too long in the story we hear that the beasts have returned and with that we risk getting exposed our self. things will escalate from there on out were we need to hide and survive but at least get to use our natural born powers along the way for this rp there will be some small rules to follow: -you can play with a max of 3 chars each -If possible please choose as many unused elements, I know that some will like to use the same element as someone else has, I dont mind but I do wish to see each element used for a char sooner or later -follow the example of the elementals natural powers that I will be adding later (there will be open spots to customize so dont worry, but there will also be some small fixed traits fitted with each element as special born traits) -the rp will be using real world mechanics when nothing is said to break away from it due to the elemental stuff, so remember, you can die, you can get hurt, if your hit by anything your clothes will get destroyed fitted with the attack (example, if a flamethrower is used to a fire elemental and the elemental uses the flames to charge up, it will still destroy the clothes regardless if its a male or female) -romance and even more (soft) adult stuff is in general accepted unless players join who request this to be lessened somewhat BUT real adult matters go in PM, admitted I do wish to read it but thats just a side matter XD this is due to the site's rules not wanting any real s*xual activity -the basic rules such as: -no godmodding, metagaming or OP stuff (trough I doubt much of that stuff will show, I still find it important to report) -dont insult people and respect other people, if any arguments come up report to me please -rules may be changed if there is need for it but in general I am pretty accepting so this wont happen unless something happens that forces me to do so for all our sake (which I hope never happens and that we all can just get alone) -when players get in a fight between each other for any reason, the attack only reports what he uses to attack, the defender has to see if he/ she can find a way to avoid it (be honest in this, if you really cant find a way to avoid it without breaking limits, rules or anything, just get hit) off course this depends on the situation, a first blow or a simple slap cause someone did something wrong can be posted as a hit and this has to be respected, just dont go overboard with that and if push comes to shove follow the above stated rule think that covers it all ------------------------------ the elements are: -fire -magma -water -ice -wind -electric -earth -plant -light -dark -steel -poison -crystal -pure each element will have its own strengths and weaknesses, special trait (the one I reported about), a full body shape (which also has its own fixed rules) and element based afflictions, traits and settings (though these can be played with a little) all info for the race itself will come at a somewhat later date so yeah this is the gist of it, any questions, stuff you think I have to add on or elaborate and just comments are welcome (if its just a comment or something and you dont wish too join, please say so to prevent confusion) ------------------------- [hider=Race information] Elementals can interbreed with a human, but always the child will be an elemental, having all its powers and weaknesses. When born between a human and elemental parent the child always has the element of the elemental parent, but when born between two elementals the child can possess any of the 14 elements as they share all the elements in their ancestry, it is not clear why it works this way but it is theorized that because a human lacks any elements the child can not get the 2 sets of the gene which means only the elemental parent's gene will contribute to the child's heritage. While a single gene possesses all the elements, its seems 2 gene's are needed to get a chance for the dormant elements. Appearance wise they all look exactly like Humans, the only difference is the color of their eyes: -fire - Red -magma - Orange -water - clear blue -ice - Teal -wind - Purple -electric - Yellow -earth - Brown -plant - Green -light - Silver -dark - Black -steel - Metallic Gray -poison - Pink -crystal - Gold -pure - various but either they have 2 different colored eyes (like a cat can have) or their eyes have a mixture between 2 colors (like being blue with brown mixed) They age pretty much the same as humans in all regards aside that from a very young age they can control their respected element. At the early teens they gain the rest of their powers. Their full set of powers are; -Either one of these options (based on the element, not individual) --The power to control their element if it is in their immediate area --The power to create or generate their element from their body -The ability to temporally change their entire physical form, which includes clothing, into their respected element. (This is called [b][i]Element body[/i][/b] -A special trait belonging to their element. And finally one power that has been banned from being used since the middle ages, and has not been used since. This power gives the Elemental unlimited power and makes them stop aging, but it comes with a huge price, the elemental in fact must give up their humanity (both body and mind). When they do this they have a limited time remembering why they used the power before they lose every thing, including memories and become a full Elemental beast, this act believed to be permanent! Unless a plot setting comes to contradict the following; this final power is pretty much a death sentence!! Because the beast is just as its called a beast, it has habits, territory and instincts but that is it. An Elemental beast is a creature of any shape and size (though larger then a truck comes vary rarely) Its made solely of its own element and can not be killed by any conventional way, it possesses its own attacks and powers fitted with the element and shape they have. also some may be roamers, those without territory and are often seen as the biggest problems as 99% of all Elemental beasts attack as soon as they notice something in their area that is not an animal (unless its not moving) only a rare few are calm and dont attack on sight, but they still dont want others to come near them.[/hider] [hider=Element information: classifications] The elements are split in 4 groups: [b]Solid[/b] are the elements that are strong and sturdy, they have a high defense normally and are solid and often unmoving by build. ==elements of Solid state are: -Earth -Ice -Steel -Crystal [b]Liquid[/b] are elements that possess a liquid quality, able to move and shape as the path allows them, due to this they can possess quite some options. ==Elements of the Liquid state are: -water -magma [b]Plasma[/b] are elements made by different matters, you know they exist as you can see and or feel them but at the same time they lack any physical mass you can grab or touch, each element in this type has their own traits. ==elements of the Plasma type are: -Fire -wind -thunder -light -dark [b]Others[/b] are those that for one reason or an other dont belong to any of the other types or are a mixture between them, due to this they all have their own unique traits ==elements of the other type are: -plant (as it is both solid and liquid) -poison (as it can be either one of liquid or plasma) -pure (in theory it is plasma, yet it is also nothing, some say its a mixture between light and dark) [/hider] [hider=Elemental information; Special traits] Each Elemental possess a special trait which is fitted to the elemental, I will list these traits here: (the abilities name is between <>) -fire - The ability to fly or levitate when taking on their Element body (semi-passive; they just have to fly up and it works all on its own) -magma - The ability to reshape their element body (this allows them to take on even a beast shape without turning into an elemental beast) (Active power with a timer) -water - The ability to heal others with the water they control, the degree varies by individual and seems connected to the users personality for some reason (Active with focus though also works from the subconsciousness if the user is unconscious or unaware of this power) -ice - The ability to grow extra limbs or spikes or other ice made bits that can act as normal body parts in either shape, they still fallow the rules of ice though, when in element body it can even shape an arm into a canon which fires shotgun like pellets (active) -wind - The ability to have a wind based barrier around the user to protect against light material projectiles (like arrows and small bullets), poison gases and other matters that can be pushed away by a sudden small wind (for projectiles this basically pushes them off course, for a small class bullet this means it wont hit the aimed area and always hits either the outer sections of the body unless your lucky enough to stand in a position that it barely go's past you, for arrows this deflects them to the ground) (Passive) -electric - The ability to hack electrical devices by touch and control them as if it was apart of their own body (though for computers this means that the consciousness has to leave the body) (active power but passive onces activated) -earth - The ability to control gravity of rocks, useful to create a field of floating rocks for whatever reason or to create a platform they can use to basically hover board with (active with a timer unless the user stays in the effected area) -plant - The ability to be protected by nature, making the Elemental nearly untouchable in a forest but unprotected in a area with no plants (Passive) -light - The ability to bend light away from the user or gather it on the users body, to either become invisible or hide the users face (active with focus) -dark - The ability to aim at a small group or a single individual(s) and mentally torture them with whatever darkness they have in their heart, the more evil acts, fears and/ or regrets the more powerful this becomes (the user however will have to focus on the target leaving his/ her guard wide open)(Active with focus) -steel - The ability to transform the bodyparts in either human or element body state much like a transformer into various options (this can be done for individual body parts but also full body, though the more transformed the more it is draining the users energy/ stamina) (active but draining to keep the transformation up) -poison - the ability to create a pink ooze from the pores, this ooze can take up to various forms as long as the users body remains intact, it can harden the outer layer to a similar shell as a beetle in density or keep a skin like outer layer (making it feel like some kind of boneless meat), it can change attribute to some kind of acid, poison, a mixture or nothing of those 2 attributes (this power can only be used in human shape) (active but its rules depend on the user and how its used) -crystal - The ability to crystallize dead matter like rocks to pretty much any type of crystal (this power is banned from being used under normal situations, it is illegal to make a profit from it (there are rules set out for when the normal state of live changes) (active) -pure - The ability to enhance the users human physical abilities of strength, speed, agility and healing, however enhancing the body past its normal limits damage the muscles forcing the healing to heal (as it can even damage the heart) if the user gets exhausted the power gets weaker and weaker forcing the user to choose: fight balanced but risk losing the power due to exhaustion, stop enhancing the body and keep the healing active or disable the healing and go all risk (most of this power works like Levitate, making it a passive but with an active activate, only healing is always passive but can be turned off) just to note, no one is forced to use these powers of they dont want to, its just like in real live, you can be born with an ability you dont want [/hider] [hider=Element information: Type chart] The following info is based on using or defending with an element and where its strong or weak to on the other elements Offensive means using the element in fact to attack an defending element or to counter an other attack by head on collision. Defense means using your element as a shield. Both have various techniques which may influence it but I will list this with the most basic skills NOTE: these are all based on human body, Element body may have different effects and will be reported by its own section extra note: if an element has a specialization tab which includes a way to change the chart, those will get a * mark in the hider name reason: it will become too chaotic to add those effects to the list as well so the list is based on the normal types and not the nonspecialist types [hider=Fire *] Offensive: releasing heavy flames as a flamethrower. Strong vs: Ice (as it melts, regardless of heat), Dark (fire gives off light), Plant (burns). Weak vs: Earth (earth will get scored but stands firm and go though the flames), crystal (only becomes stronger and go though the flames), water (water extinguish fire) equal vs: steel (it gets hot but not enough to melt it, letting it go though flames), Fire (same type) Dont even bother: magma (molten rock cant burn, only melt further), Electricity (both dont effect or touch flames but go though each other), Light (same as electricity), Pure (unaffected on defense and breaks fire in a counter) Other: Air (depending on the output from either side air could increase flames and make it stronger or the air blows away the flames), Poison (liquid is stronger always but the gas type could be equal in strength, However poison could be explosive making flames on it a risk non the less), Ice (melts it turns to water which is stronger then fire), Fire (it all depends on the output who will be the winner) Defensive: creating a wall of fire around the user. Strong vs: fire (pushes flames up and away from target), Ice (ice melts) Weak vs: Earth (rock go's tough flames), Crystal (same as rock), steel (same as rock), water (extinguish flames), magma (unaffected by flames), Electricity (go's though flames), Light (not effected by flames), Poison (gas can overwhelm, liquid will win and otherwise we got the explosive factor), Pure (it breaks fire and go's though it) Equal vs: Plant (head on is weak, underground behind the fire wall is a different story) Best vs: Air (fire defense just gets stronger), Dark (flames give light) Other: Ice (the ice melts so your just hit with water, though the water could be poisonousness or enough volume to put out the flames) [hider=Rare specialization] Fire has the specialty of heat, not all fire users can master this trait but those that can are able to tip the scale of the weakness charts a lot: Earth can melt with enough (A LOT) of heat, highest mastery needed, taking down defense, though countering an attack is less useful as the rock may not melt enough or turn to magma steel can melt with enough of heat, basic mastery is enough with some patience, both counter attacks and defense of steel gets useless water can evaporate with enough heat, advance mastery needed, taking down attacks and with full force and some patience can take down water defenses by evaporating the water or boiling it, which effects those that hide inside it air is one you need to watch out with, the wind and heat can together create a small yet powerful tornado plants wither Pure energy can get destabilized somewhat, it wont break the actions of a pure user but it creates openings [/hider] [/hider] [hider=Magma] Offensive: A jet of magma Strong vs: Fire (as any liquid wins over fire), Ice (it vaporize), Earth (it melts), Plant (it burns), Steel (it melts), Dark (magma gives off light), Light (it breaks down Light) Weak vs: Pure (see others) equal vs: Magma (neither can win), Water (Water turns to vapor and Magma to rock) Dont even bother: Crystal (crystal is immune) Other: Pure (Pure breaks magma in a counter and magma cant break Pure defense but the heat magma generates can create openings in pure defense), Poison (liquid type gets vaporized but gas wont be effected, if its explosive poison it becomes an big risk regardless of type) Defensive: A semi dome or full dome of magma Strong vs: Weak vs: Water (water turns magma to rock, making it a cage), Crystal (crystal is immune to magma), Pure (it breaks down the magma) Equal vs: Magma (at first its a good defense but with time or more power magma can break though a magma defense), Earth (earth melts but a big enough attack can pierce the dome wounding the user), Light (light gives shocks to magma domes which can destabilize the dome), Steel (same as earth but it melts quicker) Best vs: Fire (flames cant burn magma), Nature (it cant even grow in magma's area), Dark (magma gives off light) Other: Ice (depending on the amount of ice used, it can either vaporize before contact (best vs) or melt (weak, same as water), Poison (liquid acts the same as water, gas will burn up, but Magma is worthless if its explosive as the blast breaks the magma dome) [/hider] [hider=Water] Offensive: A powerful jet stream. Strong vs: Fire (water extinguish fire), electricity (short circuit), light (water blocks light) Weak vs: Air (a shield of or strong wind would deflect water in all directions), plant (plant grows with water) equal vs: Earth (Earth can block (rock) or absorb (earth), but it will succumb to it eventually), dark (both dont really effect each other), Pure (both tend to knock each other away a little) Dont even bother: Steel (it can block and pierces though water), Crystal (it can block and pierces water), water (it only strengthen the other water) Other: Ice (warmer water melts ice, colder water gets frozen as well), Steel (steel is officially immune but will rust), Magma (magma turns to rock while water evaporates), Poison (can seep into water in either gas or liquid form, corrupt water and destroy its healing or defending traits or even take over completely making attacking or defending with water an issue, yet water can cleans poison if used correctly as well, making both strong and weak to each other), water (though it strengthen each other, when two attacks collide the force pushes both sides away from each other), Air (its defense technique may also deflect the water to the wind user in rare cases) Defensive: creating a orb of water around the user, 2 versions exist, the basic one which has a thinner wall but air in the center and the advanced one which is one solid set of water and often seen as one of the strongest shield techniques for water but lacks air for the user to breath. Strong vs: Earth (a water makes earth sink) Weak vs: Crystal (it pierces though it but the angle can be deflected), Steel (same as crystal), electricity (water conducts it which often redirect its power to the water shield user), plant (plants grow with water) Equal vs: magma (water evaporates while magma gets cooled, and endless conflict), light (it can penetrate but it loses power) Best vs: (defending with this element would render attacks from certain elemental attacks nearly till fully ineffective), water (takes on more water to increase the defense power), fire (flames cant burn water), air (wind cant penetrate or disrupt a waters shield) Other: Ice (ice can freeze a water shield making it stronger and able to fight against ice but if the Water shield is attached to the user, the user also gets frozen), dark (darkness cant really effect water in pure power but it can corrupt it into darkness itself while water keeps being water making both unable to command it or see though it), poison (same as the story in the offensive matter), Pure (Pure attacks themself wont break defense but it will cause the water to start moving regardless of its users wants which could proof useful) [/hider] [hider=Ice] Offensive: A cold burst of freezing force at a medium range.
