One Potion Master, coming right up.
Basic Information Name: Finnegan Colquhoun Age: 37 Gender: Male Marked? He is not Marked Appearance Finnegan has a very disheveled and unkempt appearance at all times. Many suspect it's because he's too far gone in the head to bother with appearances. Despite this, he never seems to smell of anything other than Potions (some suspect it's a Potion of his own making that keeps him from smelling like last year's gym socks). His beard looks as if it was never shaved, bushing out. It occasionally manages to somehow trap his wand in it. His robes are very shabby, with several hand-sewn pockets inside, where he stores various Potions, including an all-purpose antidote composed of primarily crushed Bezoar, mixed with a few other ingredients. Skills and Talents Overall Role: Potion Master Talents - Curses and Hexes: He's quite skilled at using them, in spite of his lack of duelling experience. He's able to cast his few favored ones nonverbally. - Potions: Finnegan is very skilled with Potions. He can brew just about anything to perfection, provided he has the right ingredients. He's very well known for the ease of which he has brewed even the most difficult of potions. Included in this are Felix Felicis, Polyjuice Potion, Veritaserum, Amortentia, and even the Draught of Despair. Weaknesses - Duelling: Even though he favors curses and hexes, Finnegan has only duelled a handful of times in his life. As he values precision in everything, he finds the fast-paced environment of battle to be stressful, causing his spellwork to be shoddy. He usually over-compensates the effects of spells. - Charms: As he favors Curses and Hexes, it's only natural that he'd be inadequate at casting charms. On a good day, his charms are about half-strength. - Insanity: As an after-effect of the multiple memory charms used on him coupled with having been tortured via the Cruciatus Curse, Finnegan is no longer of sound mind, suffering from psychosis (hearing voices, delusional paranoia, and occasional catatonia). This also means that most members of the Ashes avoid him if necessary. Favorite Spells Imperio (Imperius Curse): He has only used this curse a handful of times, and will only resort to it as a last reserve. Petrificus Totalus (Full Body-Bind Curse) Reducto (Reductor Curse) Mimble Wimble (Toungue-Tying Curse) Expulso (Expulso Curse) Bat-Bogey Hex Knee-Reversal Hex Stinging Hex Hurling Hex Homenum Revelio: A carry-over from his short time spent with Alastor Moody Biography Views Finnegan (and the Colquhoun family in general) is one of the few wizards that actually like Muggles and Muggleborns. If anything, it's always intrigued Finnegan how certain Muggles can be born with a magical affinity when most of them can't use a lick of magic. History Finnegan was born into the somewhat-wealthy Calquhoun, who hail from Scotland. As such, he grew up around magic. When he was 11, he got his wand from a Scottish wandmaker whose name he doesn't recall. Though the choice of core was odd (Veela hair), it was the only wand in the entire store (which had about 1500 wands in it) that reacted when he held it. Shortly after that, he started attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His time at Hogwarts was relatively uneventful. He was sorted into Ravenclaw due to the Sorting Hat seeing 'a hidden intelligence in his mind' (Hat's words, not his). He quickly showed an affinity for Potions, and was a known favorite of Professor Horace Slughorn's. He also did average on DADA, though his Charms work was poor. He ended up taking DADA, Potions, and Transfiguration at the N.E.W.T. level, managing to barely pass DADA and Transfiguration (he obviously passed Potions with flying colors). When Voldemort started to rise to power, Finnegan found himself joining the Order of the Phoenix. For a while, he did fine. Then, a year after he joined, tragedy struck. Finnegan was found by Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody after having been hit with Obliviate. Finnegan mostly recovered and resumed missions a week later. Then, it happened again. And again. And again. Honestly, everyone lost count how many times he'd been hit by the Memory Charms. All everyone knows is that they started affecting his mental stability. However, what truly 'broke' him was when he managed to foil Bellatrix Lestrange, who tortured him with the Cruciatus Curse. She would've probably killed him via torture if not for Alastor Moody. At that point, Alastor appointed himself Finnegan's unofficial guard until his death. The only thing that Finnegan remebers from his old 'mentor' is the useful Homenum Revelio, a carryover of the paranoia 'Mad-Eye' was known for. After being tortured, Finnegan stayed at St. Mungo's for a few months, as he had developed psychosis (the hospital's top Mediwitch determined that the Memory Charms mixed with the torture form the Cruciatus Curse was the cause). However, Finnegan managed to escape, and found himself at the doorstep of the Ashes. He has since taken up the valued role of Potions Master, using his brews to assist the group.
