It was May the 20th, 2020. The day where many young and old vampires would leave behind the world they knew, the human world, and discover the truth behind their blood. Each vampire came only with a single luggage filled with their belongings; some came with nothing at all. No matter where they were in the world the letter they received from the man in white was the same: Board a certain train on this day, and wait until midnight. Some came as soon as possible, while others nearly made it by the skin of their teeth. But regardless of when they boarded the train, the wait felt like hours. As passengers left closer to midnight, eventually each of the new vampires would sit alone in the dark train. At some point they would enter a tunnel, where only the light from within the train illuminated the darkness. And even than, everything went black. By the time the vampire's eyes would adjust to the darkness they would see their new home. A world that seemed to have been lost to time, in a land not on Earth. They have arrived to the Scarlet Briar Academy. Hundreds of trains from across the world moved into the massive station, hissing to a stop. The vampires were ushered out of their metal carriages and guided towards a massive assembly hall. On the way they would be able to take a gander at the sights of the Academy City. Vendors who sold magical trinkets, snacks from many cultures, the blood-red fountains where they could slate their thirsts, and creatures that look like they came strait from a fantasy video game. Despite these bizarre and new things, the city was peaceful. No one paid any mind to these newcomers. No one to harass them, or bully them for their appearance or their attitudes. And yet... When it looked like trouble was going to brew, like a candle in the wind it was snuffed out, from a hand out of the darkness. Someone was doing their best to keep the peace. Eventually the newcomers arrived to the Assembly hall. There was no formal speech or representative there however. Instead there were hundreds of other vampires on staff, who the newcomers would see in order to register for the academy. They were to give their names, age, how long they have been a vampire, when they were recruited, and much more information. It was a tedious process to be sure, but those who managed to get through it then had their pictures taken and given a card. As each of the staffers told them: "Don't lose this; this is not only your identification, but the proof that you belong here. You'll need to in order to pay for anything in the city, to enter your dorm, to check in at the Red Fountains, and many other things. If you lose it, come to a station office ASAP. Only one can ever be active at any time; when you get a new card, the old one will be destroyed, regardless of where it is. If you wish to deposit any money into your card, simply find an ATM. Each student will have a monthly allowance of $100 American USD, though the ATM's will also accept currency of other denominations as well. There are maps around the city if you get lost, as well as other community members who can assist you with questions." And as quickly as they came, the newcomers were now left to roam the city. It was nighttime, perfect for vampires. There were staff on hand who would be willing to take each vampire's luggage to their room if they wish to explore on their own first. Some areas were restricted, largely areas that ere under construction or for certain personnel only. There were some attractions however, such as a festival celebrating the newcomers, as well as a tour of the Academy itself and a meeting with it's various teachers and staff. There the students may come to watch demonstrations of different magics, learn more about what sort of classes they wish to take for the semester, as well as other extracurricular activities they may participate in. As first classes would begin tomorrow, each students was given a form they would need to fill out ASAP. Additionally, all of these classes seem to take place during the night beginning at 8pm and ending at 6am. Day classes, which begin at 9am and end at 4pm, were reserved only for those who feel they could juggle the additional courses or need remedial assistance. Sufficient to say, students were expected to sleep in during the day, and wake up at night.
