Brought on by the harsh, unforgiving environments of Maratigal, the competition for sentience that followed, and the introduction of copper and calcium in their diet along with non iron-dependent circulatory processes that allowed the mineral to be concentrated on the skin, the Adarro's shell ensured the advantage of survival while their brains gradually developed into sentience and continued forth. Known weak spots include the areas between the shoulder guards and the gauntlets, the area between the shoulder guard and the torso, the groin, and the neck. The Adarro has no use for clothing, since their unmentionables are hidden underneath a layer of retractable armor. The Adarro typically stand at 6'11" tall, towering above most humans. On average, their lifespan averages 98 years, with 124 years being the typical long-liver. They are omnivorous, but leans more on meat diets. Puberty ends at the age of 24 years. This is considering no future medical intervention is used; the actual Adarro life expectancy lasts 240 years with such technology. Because of such a long lifespan, many coups have been attempted during the course of the Great Empire of Canza's history, although in the later ages of the Canza security measures and discipline have successfully kept the throne undisturbed. Another sentient species exist within their homeworld, naming themselves as Jitan, but most of them have been significantly incapacitated by the somewhat superior Adarro and has since been regarded as mere primitive barbarians. However, some find their place within the Canzanese society and perform their roles in society, albeit not without being subjected to racism. Their physiology and morphology is that of a beastly, hairy humanoid, with claws and teeth tough enough to break through Adarro armor.
Government Under the light of the Emperor, the Senate, and the People The Canzanese follows an autocratic reign under the full authority of the Emperor. While the selection of a ruler typically follows the patriarchal lineage system, most of the Emperor's children are adopted, and only a few Emperors were actually related by blood to their predecessors. Other political entities exist to provide support on the Emperor's work and minimize effort and strain. Voted governors are assigned to each continent and perform management duties. The Emperor-chosen Zetariah Senate, composed of representatives from each country-sized provinces, formulate and suggest laws for the Emperor to approve, which he can be repeal at a later time if desired. Both parties also advise the Emperor on some matters, and their members can be removed from their seat due to incompetency, treason, reformation, among many others. Emperors and heirs are well-trained and disciplined enough to steer away from tyranny. In fact, only a few despots have reigned over the course of the Canza's history, and their failures, their humiliation, and their demise at the hands of coups served as lessons to future rulers.
Military The Armed Forces of the Empire is basically summed up by the phrase "quality over quantity". While their military assets are meticulously designed, highly-graded and refined, consequentially their production and numbers suffer as a result. The Canza excels both in offensive and defensive capabilities, but is vulnerable in dealing with large amounts of enemies that are too excessive for the point-defense systems to handle and destructive AoEs that will either destroy a closely huddled fleet or force them to disperse. Because of this, the Canza is putting its focus into colonizing worlds abundant with resources, and is employing mass amounts of skilled Plebitor in their factories. They have a large focus on projectile weapons, with explosives of any sort (nuclear, particle, conventional) embedded on the rounds to further ramp up firepower and occasionally piercing components to deliver internal strikes. Railguns, missiles, shells, and any other sorts are within this standard. They are commonly installed on heavy ground forces and combat spacecraft. Due to this, the Canza tends to possess advantages against armored units and most opponents overall, but tends to suffer when ammo supply becomes limited. Other weapons aren't neglected, however; at least quite many point-defense systems use laser weaponry and some forces use experimental energy weapons (which are either unpredictable or unstable) at their preference. In regards to armor, the Canza uses alternating layers of austenite steel, durable stainless materials, cushioning, and insulation, stacked over each other with short supporting rods and arranged similarly to the Walls of Babylon, with varying thicknesses per "wall" depending on terrain (Space generally requires more thickness than ground and infantry, which is about 4 inches individually to block meteors as well as attackers themselves. Ground units often do not require layer-group stacking.) and purpose (Some tend to be a whole meter thick. Generally, domestic spacecraft do not require stacking.). Research is currently underway to manufacture graphene as an armor product, which is still in its VERY early stages. As with most nations, the Canza has four military divisions: Gertu, Irtu, Satu and Matu, which are space, air, naval and ground, respectively. The Irtu, however, is being considered to be subordinated to the Gertu under planetary defense purposes, due to some redundancies between the two.
Technology The Canzanese scholars and intellects, despite the clearly rampant use of (2015) supercomputer-speed microcomputers, domestic fusion reactors, faster-than-light drives, and most other possessions that some races would see as advanced, consider themselves a primitive race. This is simply motivation to drive themselves further into research, and by most standards Empire technology stands within the average. The Canza mainly use nanomachines in mining. They are poured on rocky, optionally mineral-rich ground, and within seconds, nanomachines separate a composing substance from the other substances, isolate into groups assigned for each mineral and carry back to the miner the materials that compose the rock, prioritizing the more valuable minerals such as quartz, uranium, carbon, metals, and the like. This may probably make them a formidable economic power, capable of making big profits from resource trade and exports. Weaponization of this technology has not been thought of yet, however, and if the Empire did put an effort into making it eat away armor soon, developments have to be made in order to be able to make it effective enough to douse it on ships on the go. Manufacturing nanomachines are still in the works, which is already in the prototyping stages. Extensive genetic modification, climate-control technologies, structured farming, advanced preservation techniques and many other innovations have allowed for optimum production of foodstuffs, allowing effective distribution of food towards the entire Canzanese populace and making malnutrition outbreaks rare. In fact, so much has been produced that over hundreds of millions of bushels are in storage, and probably ready for future trade with whoever they may encounter.
Culture Remarkably multicultural and diverse, the Canzanese Empire has an astonishing capacity to create a sense of shared identity among all peoples for a very long period of time. Cultural leisure centers and communal spaces helped foster a sense of unity and citizenship to all, expanding the Empire's influence to almost every individual. Generally speaking, the Canzanese value system is rooted on communion, obligation, patronage, discipline and family. Parents are expected to act as role models, and raise their children appropriately. Likewise, children are expected to follow Ties between individuals are encouraged, fostering development of numerous associations and fraternities such as cultural and veteran's guilds, religious sodalities, drinking and cuisine clubs, entertainment groups, and other similar societies. The Great Empire of Canza is probably one of the few space-age races where religion is still highly prevalent. While none is officially followed by the government, the dominant religion is Qasterity and its subfaiths (subfaiths: as Catholicism and Protestantism is akin to general Christianity), which composes 2/5 of the total populace, succeeded by Escerianism and its subfaiths which is 1/5, minor ethnic religions compose another 1/5, and atheism, once again, 1/5. Quasterity is a polytheistic religion with over six gods in worship, while Escerianism is monotheistic and has only one recognized deity who has no relation with the gods of Quasterity whatsoever. Both, while still having some conflicts with each other, are much more peaceful and tolerant in comparison to certain ethnic faiths that tend to wage terror in the name of their beliefs. Castes divide the people based on their roles, and has been in use since the first emergence of the Empire. Corator: Refers to the highest, most prestigious caste, consisting of all of the Emperor's family. Valator: Consists of all the government heads, including the governors and the Zetariah. The Valator are well-respected, much like the Corator. Tyritor: All military figures ranking higher than the Sergeant equivalent and has command duties belong here, and is respected most especially by the Fernitor. Akadator: Considered as the brains of the Canzanese Empire, and does all the scientific work. They also work in schools as teachers, parting their knowledge with the young. Yerator: Wealthy and respectable individuals that mostly qualify in the Plebitor caste, but has amassed wealth to gain notability. Fernitor: The rest of the military of the Canzanese Empire, subordinates to the Tyritor. Plebitor: The regular, common people of the Canza Empire, which include industrial workers, farmers, traders, mere household dwellers and other jobs. Disdetor: Criminals, barbarian species, and captured enemies, which are either sold to slavery or put behind bars. It is not uncommon to find former Disdetors becoming Valators, and some Emperors even once were slaves that have redeemed themselves. Some Akadators may also be part of the Tyritor, and the same with most other castes, although a Yerator, a Plebitor, or a Disdetor may technically never be part of two castes as they are technically reclassified (A Plebitor being "part" of the Akadator simply means they are an Akadator, not both Akadator and Plebitor.). It can be said that climbing up or falling down the castes is without most restriction, and is quite loose. Slaves still retain some rights, as they are subject to abuse protection and are sometimes paid, albeit only a measly sum. While they don't have privileges to own most properties, they have rights to possess and use money for their general needs aside from those provided by their owners. Slaves are freed after some amount of time in their sentence, if not sentenced for life. Freeborn women, although lacking the rights to hold political office, vote or serve in the military, are still considered citizens and may own property, engage in contracts, enter business, and serve as Akadator and perform research work. A woman's obligation to subjecting to her husbands's or her father's authority has been largely abandoned since the Empire's industrial era, and are free to do whatever they will as long as they don't get involved in politics. Feminist movements are almost absent from the Empire; women are pleased with the way things are running currently.
History Founded in the Renaissance of the Maratigal races, the Empire began as a merger of neighboring Adarro states that jointly suffered a civil war beforehand, resulting from the long-term effects of a Dark Age brought on by the collapse of a massive preceding mixed-race republic in the hands of Jitan conquerors centuries earlier. The event intensified prejudices between the two species that never vanished even until now. It took decades for the new empire to cope with its earlier sufferings, and a century to establish its place as a world power. The Great Empire mainly acquired lands through absorbing influenced states or purchasing them, although sometimes war became a choice. And in an occasion when it did a few hundred years later, where modernization was widespread and information technology was rampant, the consequence was a massive, 30-year worldwide Great War where the Empire itself emerged as the sole survivor (Although other allied states were present at victory, they were soon absorbed.). The event marked the beginning of the Canza's rule over the entire world of Maratigal, and set the stage for a Golden Age that began as soon as the Empire coped with its losses from the war. A few decades later, the Empire began emerging as an interstellar power, starting with the colonization of Certhaul. Today, they hold over 4 worlds, with Maratigal and Orius fully developed, Certhaul partially developed and Aius in its early colonization stages. 3 more worlds are in sight for the Great Empire of Canza, and currently covets them for future development.
