She hasn't stayed in the same place for longer than 6 months since she was 8. She tends to talk loud, and uses hand gestures a lot. She's an extrovert, and hates not being seen most times. She has primarily used her power to get out of situations she wasn't safe or happy in (and a few times to get into places she shouldn't have been allowed in). Appearance: Of average height and build Emily discovered her power works better if she's wearing clothing similar to those around her. She started wearing louder clothes for when she doesn't want to accidentally slip into 'invisibility'. When she wears 'normal' clothes, she finds herself slipping a lot easier. Biography: When Emily was eight her father went to jail for killing her mother. After that Emily got tossed around foster care homes. She didn't fit into any of them. During this particularly chaotic time in Emily's life she discovered her power. If so desired, or really not at all desired, she could become invisible. Technically not truly invisible, just unnoticed. She could stand in a room full of people, and they would all but completely ignoring her. She's done a few illegal things here and there, but luckily, save once, has never been caught on camera. The one time was easily explained away. She didn't even get fingerprinted, and the next day saw the cop who had arrested her. He didn't even look at her twice. Even though Emily has tried to have a stable life with a job and the whole nine, she's never quite gotten it right. Her inability to stay focused enough to be continuously noticed means she nearly flunked out of school, she scrapped by enough for a diploma but not enough for college. And well relationships have never quite worked out because she doesn't get noticed well enough to even start one. Work, well that was almost out of the question, places don't hire you if you don't make an impression. There was always someone else who handled the interview better than she did, even if she did it perfectly. A couple years ago, Emily was taught by a foster parent how to play the guitar. She found that when she played, people did notice and remember her. Though she's not good enough to show off too much about it, she does use it when she needs to, or wants to make something of an impression. Power: Presence Suppression: "Invisibility" She has the ability to blend in with the people around her. She goes unnoticed in a crowd. If someone is asked to describe her, after seeing her five minutes prior even, they can't. All but a camera, which she's careful to avoid when necessary, ignore her. She has to actively keep herself conscientious of being visible, though if she's just going through the day she is semi-visible. When she wants to go completely unnoticed it takes almost as effort to relax into it as it does to keep visible.
Well it doesn't hide her from the standard smell stuff either. And technically you can see her, but she's got a SEP field around her (in the weirdest and most obscure reference I could probably use). Edit: actually that wouldn't quite be the weirdest or most obscure since the power is a reference to a power used in Exalted (which I can't remember the name of said power). The thing is she's less noticeable the bigger the crowd. Holding Alistair's arm, probably makes her noticeable, but if she let go of him and just kind of stood next to him, she'd fade into the crowd. If that makes any sense. She's also extremely forgettable. Like if you spoke with her, you know you spoke with someone, you may even remember the whole conversation, but her face, if you saw it again, doesn't seem familiar. Edit 2: And she has to try to make herself completely unnoticeable, like really relax into it, so if a situation is tense enough she would actually have a hard time calming herself down enough to be unnoticeable. The more stressed she is about it the more visible she is. Though calling it visible really isn't the correct term, because she is always visible. Someone with eidetic or photographic memory would remember her, but she'd seem as unimportant. That's most of what the power is marking her as "unimportant" or as the Hitchhiker's guide reference would allude, she's just someone else's problem.
