[Gideon] He had always felt that some sort of karmic destiny was in store for him, that he was destined for great things, grand things. It might just be an extreme form of optimism, or even a silly fantasy, but he still hoped. And now, his hopes had been realized, in the form of Skyline Institute. He wouldn't just enroll however, the alarming rumors about the school were bad enough, and if even a few of those rumors were to be believed, the current fourteen year old Gideon was ill prepared for Skyline. --- ~Several months later~ At his house, in his room on the upper floor, Gideon leans back in his chair and throws an arm over his eyes. The hard facts that Gideon actually believed about Skyline were so few that it might as well be called "Slyline". Shady rumors, crazy stories, and accounts of horrific experiences made the school sound more like a fantasy novel than anything. A recurring theme were these "Words" that imbued students with power. Another recurring theme were the nightmarish "Blights" that descended every so often, slaughtering students en masse. No particular pattern was seen between any of the Blights, except for the first day. The first day was always the same year to year. Some blights did seem to come back and afflict differing years of students, but it was hard to tell with the limited information he had to use. Never mind the supernatural parts-how the h*** does this school get away with killing off 95% of its students every year?!! Questions like these were the source of Gideon's headaches. He needed more information. [Marcus] Not that it'd ever happen, since I'm invincible, but if I ever do get injured playing on the collegiate or pro level, I'll still be able to get any other job I want since I attended Skyline Institute. Man, just how hard must the courses be to get that kind of opportunity after only a year? So hard that students die lmao. Whatever, it's only a year. How hard could it be?
