[/quote]Well, many things in WW2 were just the matter of time and that the war escalated and needed bigger,stronger and better protected vehicles.

As for tech inspirations, I mostly run on original ideas or search for interesting designs which then I further develop on.
My heavy tank is based after the French AMX-50/120. Save for some obvious changes.
I reason its technology and armament with implementing things which were previously only used for aircraft and warships.

BTW, I'm still undecided how to name my emperor but this is how he'll look:
