Here there be monsters.
Name: Lacks an actual name, simply goes by a shortened version of his cape name, "Proto". Sometimes "Pro" Cape Name: Protozoan Age: Unknown, monstrous forms make telling his age unfeasible. Gender: Technically genderless, considers himself male. Appearance: Protozoan's appearance is inconsistent most of the time, changing every day to suit his powers. However, he does have a "resting state" that he reverts to when asleep or otherwise unconscious, a vaguely humanoid blob of some sort of semisolid, translucent, unidentified matter that glows with a soft pale light. When Protozoan wakes up, the blob quickly assumes an monstrous human-like form dependant on his choice of powers for that day. Oddly enough, each of his forms is branded with an insignia, usually somewhere around his left shoulder, of the greek 'Omega' symbol, but upside down. Maybe a stylized 'u'. Costume: Protozoan lacks an actual costume, as his form changes too often to have a solid image. For the purposes of identification, he wears a blue sash however is possible. Height: Varies greatly. Resting state was just over 3' when he was found. Weight: Varies, usually above the 300 lbs. mark. Resting state is around 40 lbs. Affiliation: Villain Group: The Renegades Skills: Maybe as a result of whatever caused his amnesia, Protozoan lacks any real skills beyond the most rudimentary of things. This extends to social skills and any preferences he might have had in the past, so Protozoan is more or less a blank slate ripe for manipulation. So far, he has picked up some basic brawling from some other Renegades despite preferring the thrill of brute force applied liberally, and has learned to use his appearance to his advantage, letting him intimidate others relatively effectively. Tools/weapons: Protozoan is unable to use most tools directly, and attempts to refit equipment for his use are usually seen as a lost cause save for the blue sash he uses. The sash itself is just a very durable sash, save for a tracking chip implanted on it. For other things, he simply uses his body as a weapon. Power: Protozoan has a 'pool' of powers to draw from, 5 in all. However, he is limited to only ever having 3 of them active at any given day. Each power becomes half as potent each day it is used consecutively. After a day without use, the power reverts to its original potency. Each power influences his form in a dramatic way. These powers include: 1: Flight, which manifests as a pair of wings, the type changing every time this power is chosen. The pace is nothing to be amazed at, more or less as fast as you'd expect a large monster such as himself would be. 2: Shaker power that allows Protozoan to secrete a thick, green cloud of gas that causes intense nausea in whoever breathes it in except for Protozoan. The gas spreads quickly, but dissipates after a minute or two. This power causes Protozoan to sprout several cancerous bulbs filled with a sickly green substance that can only be described as pus. 3. Enhanced durability and regeneration. Damaged skin and organs are quickly replaced with functional scar-like tissue, while his skin becomes rough and similar to that of a rhinoceros, able to take several shots from small arms fire before giving in. Occasionally manifests as insect-like carapace. 4. Greatly enhanced strength, able to break through walls and cars with ease. This power causes Protozoan's muscles to bulge to an almost cartoonishly large size. Does not actually come with additional durability or regeneration, so actually exerting this strength by itself is exceptionally dangerous. 5. Protozoan's senses are greatly enhanced, and he gains the ability to completely shut off any of his senses at will. This power makes Protozoan's form take a much more animalistic form, usually including features such as segmented eyes and snouts. Power Classification: Changer 7, Possible Mover 3, Possible Shaker 2, Possible Brute 4-7 Trigger Event: None, as far as he knows. He woke up in an alley with his powers, and that's about as much as he can remember. History: Protozoan is a Case 53, a strange category of capes that just sort of appear out of nowhere with crazy mutations and parahuman powers. As a result, he doesn't have a very big history in the world. His tale, however brief, begins in an alleyway of the beautiful town of Visalia. Protozoan wakes up, obviously confused about the situation and the fact that there was a very obvious hole where his memories should be. To make matters worse, perhaps it was from a lack of memories, or maybe because of some other interfering force, he was stuck in his amorphous 'resting state' form when he woke up, the reason for his current name. Thankfully (or perhaps not, but he doesn't have much of a reason to doubt) , he was quickly found by a seemingly benevolent group of parahumans that called themselves The Renegades. They saw the potential in taking in a Case 53 such as him, and it didn't take long for him to become almost fanatically loyal to The Renegades and whichever cause it supported. After all, they're the only part of this world that matters. He has never questioned how The Renegades found him so quickly after waking up, or why they were willing to take him in. Other: While he is not aware of it, he is slowly losing control of his powers. Eventually will completely lose the ability to choose from his powers at all, and will likely lose even more in time. His speech is usually impaired by his form, though he can manage to speak in a very rough, gravelly voice with great effort.
