"Gather them and free them?!" she sputtered, horrified at the princess' words, and she stared with wide eyes and a slackened jaw. "You're mad! It took twenty generations to contain the monster before it devoured the stars as well as the sun!" She clenched her teeth and her fists, then opened her tattooed palm toward Anise again. "Separate them immediately, you don't know what you're doing. I will kill you if I have to."
Anise's eyes widened as panic rushed through her system. There was no way this was true. She got here because of the lanterns, so that meant she'd leave using them. "N-no! I came here because of these things! They're my only way out! There's no way you're telling the truth. No monster like that exists! The only monster here is you by stopping me from getting home!" Anise didn't know why the girl was opening her hand at her, but she had a bad feeling about it. Suddenly the girl was hit with a rock and Anise saw her opportunity to step forward. She was going to kill the girl. There was no way she could let an enemy stop her. She had to get home. These lanterns. These eggs, they were her ticket home and there would be nothing to stop her. Nothing. Suddenly Tyaelaem appeared behind Anise.
"Lies, she lies, Your Highness," he hissed angrily. He had been the one to throw the stones. He chucked another at Rhea with surprising force and dexterity, and it clocked the pirate upside the head.
Anise's heart soared. Her knight had returned! Her friend Tyaelaem! He was back! He had created the opportunity she needed. With it she lunged at the pirate with her sword aiming directly for the girl's heart. No one else around her mattered at this time, just stopping this threat. Ending this danger. Killing this monster that would dare get in her way.
