The Japanese doll of a girl was short and petite, easily lost in crowds of her taller camp companions. In fact many of them simply didn't notice her at all. With her white cane hidden, she just looked like a daydreaming girl, completely normal in the crowd of teens. But she stood with her back straight, poised like a porcelain doll on a stand, her cast down, the faintest ghost of a smile on cherry pink lips. I can hear it... The forest... I've never been so close before. Every bird, every leaf, it's all singing... I want to get closer. I want to hear all of it. The wind. The trees. The grass. It's so close. I wonder what it looks like... Looking so calm on the surface, it was her thoughts that betrayed her. She was hardly paying attention to the other kids now. All she heard, all she felt, was something she had never been allowed to even get close to. A real forest, with in her reach. Her parents had alway forbidden her from getting to close to crowds, much less a forest. They had always been so certain that she would get lost or trip and fall to her death somehow. But it was really there. And she could almost feel it calling to her. The sun slipping its fingers over her skin and the wind pushing through her clothes, she never felt more suffocated. It was dark. There was darkness everywhere. She couldn't see. She couldn't see! There was nothingness! A wave of panic washed over her and she gripped her cane tightly. The bus was still there, so she put her free hand on it. Hot metal. It almost burned. But it was there. There were things around her. She could hear the forest and everything it hid. People. There people all around her too. Calm down. Calm down. Don't let it reach you. Don't let it take over. You can't see. That's all it is. Listen. Listen. There are people everywhere around you. You aren't alone. Calm down. Letting out a shaky breath, she lifted her head up, dark cloudy eyes looking endlessly into the distance. It happened sometimes, the irrational panic. It was sound that always reached her though. Sound waves the rippled through the air causing chaotic images to come crashing around her. If she paid too much attention she couldn't handle everything she was 'seeing'. If she didn't pay enough attention her childhood nightmare would come to life and she would become disorient, alone in darkness. She hoped, at the very least, this camp would steady the roller-coaster of senses she waded through. They will help. Listen. Listen to the voices around you and find the Unison Leaders.
