Fury resisted Kanitah’s movements in two areas, he had his arm wrapped around the back of Kanitah’s neck and held them together closely by holding on with all his strength. In the leg department he couldn’t do much other than directly contest Kanitah attempting to force his legs closer together, but Fury had the hook in and his legs were already stretched open, so he had the advantage somewhat of resisting Kanitah’s move as opposed to trying to enact one like Kanitah was trying. Kanitah was able to make some head-way as their weight shifted somewhat, but Fury held tight and resisted him every step of the way, and now the energy drain was taking effect. Fury had been in contact with Kanitah for a little over five seconds, which in a fight was no small amount of time. With the supremely deadly effect taking hold over time, Kanitah would now feel as is a little over a fifth of his total energy had been drained from him, which was indeed the case. 

Comparatively, Fury was growing ever stronger, the drain feeding his strength and giving him greater ability to resist in the ensuing battle of strength and wits.
