As the downtrodden group of freaks milled about the abandoned factory, Bethany sat by the wall, hugging her knees with her head resting sideways on her arms. This situation was somewhat similar to what she had been through before being picked up by the Veiss family, the only difference is now bad people were actively hunting after her, rather than just harassing her when they happened upon her on the street. The others argued, some wanted to get out of dodge, and some wanted revenge. She was leaning toward the former. There was no point killing anyone, and the further they got away, the less likely the Veiss family would catch up to them. They couldn't possibly have power and friends everywhere. Besides, she was the only one here who essentially had no powers(that's what they'd be called in a comic book, anyway) at the moment. From Viktor Veiss' murmuring during lab sessions, she had come to understand her powers to some degree. She made her eat things, or else let spiders and snakes and dogs bite her to see what would happen. She knew now, she could pick up traits from other animals. But he had flushed them all from her system to prepare her for transport. And right now she was basically pure human. As she watched the others, she wondered vaguely if she could pick up that boy's camouflage power by biting him. Or if his genetic mutations wouldn't "count." It was then that a gunshot galvanized the others into action. Beth didn't hear it at first, but several of the other reacted, and she lifted her head to see. When the crash came, two of them moved to fight, and the rest basically fled. Beth saw the youngest girl, Taryn, her name was, hide behind a support pillar. She ran to join her, pressing next to her protectively. She was the only other girl besides the demon woman(as Beth thought this she chided herself for the cruel description) and Bethany felt a need to keep her safe. Bethany didn't gather too much from around the pillar, but when she heard a cop talking she looked out from around the pillar. She caught a glimpse of one of a low to the ground robot, and she knew it must be a Veiss contraption. She grabbed Taryn's hand and bolted for the nearest window.
