Naomi was busy rambling through her own mind when someone touched her shoulder. She flinched, taking a quick step back to see who had approached her. She gathered her composure quickly, and studied him as he spoke. He was giving some instructions and then proceeded to introduce himself. He was some sort of professor - Elchen. 'Don't start on a bad foot with authorative figures,' she thought to herself, gribbing the strap to her backpack tightly. "I'm not used to be around so many people," she spoke softly, facing toward the uniformed students making their way in the same direction. It wasn't a lie, sure she has been around a number of people - foster homes and all - but this was an actual school. 17 years, and it was a first. Home schooling was common among foster homes, and small private schools to give students much needed attention. So yes, this was in fact new. "Naomi," she faced him again, introducing herself cautiously. She eyed his lab coat carefully, "What is it you teach?" She asked the question more out of respect, rather than actual interest. Her gaze drifted to the individuals around her. So many people from different places. Different accents, demeanors and just overall different personas. It was intriguing, considering her life revolved around kids whose parents didn't even want them. "My names Sora and yes I love listening to music!" She heard the voice in the distance. Her green gaze followed the voice, and she started intently. Music - it reminded her of her mother. She was a music prodigy, and Naomi inherited the same skills. Piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet - you name it, she played it. She would sit for hours, helping her mother write a new lullaby to put the twins asleep. Her father hted it, claimed it was a waste of time. No music, no stories - imagination can't exist, live in reality. She wondered if her father was a different man when they met, but she doubted she would ever really know. She gave a slight frown at the haunting memory. It was rare to think of her biological family. God, there was so much blood. The Shadows swarmed her, trying to pull her away from her current reality. She blinked a few times before turning to face the professor who was starting at her, waiting for a response. Did he say something? "Um... I'm sorry. What did you say?" She needed to focus. Thoughts like that aren't going to help her make it through this place. 'You know better,' she thought, bitting on her lip in annoyance, 'survive.'
