Death Match
---
Welcome, participant. We apologize for the sudden intrusion but a congratulations is in order. You have been selected for the yearly Death Match! Now I'm sure you've never heard of this yearly sport, so let me explain. Every year, about 30 participants are selected to participate in a game of survival. A battle royale so to speak, the participants are pit against each other until only one is left alive. Yes, that's right, 'left alive' means you will be killing each other. How fun! Anyways, every participant has had a small microchip implanted in his head, behind his ear to be precise, that is linked to the participants vitals. It will continue to operate as long as the person is alive. This microchip will keep track of your vitals, location, etc. More importantly this microchip can be detonated remotely! If that happens, you will indeed die. Now, this would only happen if you broke the rules, ran out of time, or, god forbid, you started trying to get it out, so let's not try that. Now, more about the rules. You will be given 60 days to reduce the number of participants to one. You will be left to your own devices to do this however you are not to leave the city. That would be breaking the rules and we know happens when you do that... Furthermore, If the 60 days end and there is more than one chip active, they will automatically detonate. So, if you want to live, you'll make sure you're the last one alive. Why is this happening? Why were you chosen? What will this all accomplish? I'm sure you have many questions, but I assure you they are all irrelevant. Once you leave here, all that will matter is your survival. Now, we are not so cruel as to leave you unarmed in the coming war. We will provide you with one random item that will hopefully be key to your success in this game. Though, you should be aware that every participant will receive one item, and some may be more useful than others. Tomorrow you will be contacted via text message with more details. Good day and good luck!
--- Unaware to most of the population a vicious game is held every year. It is a death match where people are set against each other until only one is left alive. These players are all from the same city and are watched via hidden cameras and microphones planted throughout the city. The players are also equipped with a microchip that transmits various information to the viewers including what they see and hear. Some viewers only watch the game for pleasure, however many typically make bets on the players throughout the game. Things get particularly exciting when the Game Masters throw in new obstacles for the players. What these things can be will vary- they can be helpful or dangerous depending on the situation. Before the game begins the participants are kidnapped and wake up in a room with a well dressed man on a television screen before them. He explains most of the rules to the player. Once the man is done speaking a gas is released that knocks subdues the participant once again. When he wakes the next day he will have been returned to his home. From then on the participants will receive more information about the game via text message. All participants will receive one cellular device as well as their special 'weapon'. ---
Map/Location
Kingstown, NY Kingstown is a fictional city located in the state of New York. It is located south of Lake Ontario and is the third largest city in New York. It is a large city with a population of about 600,000. Home to several large corporations as well as the nations fifth largest shopping mall, the city is no stranger to urbanization. In fact, most of the the city is urban. Corporate buildings climb into the sky while residencies crowd together. Public buses as well as a new subway line create a spiderweb across the downtown area. However, the northwestern parts of the city are suburban and reserved for those with deeper pockets. This area is elevated on a cliff (marked on the map by a thick brown line) called The Ridge, and overlooks the urbanized part of the city. The roads here are lines with well kept trees and expensive cars. (The green part of the map is on top of the Ridge and considered the 'rich' area. The orange part of the map is the lower area with less income.) Sectors The city will be split into sectors or areas. These areas will be used to keep track of each character, among other things. Most of these areas are known to the cities inhabitants and thus many of the names originate from what the citizens of Kingstown call them. However, a map will be provided to each player in game. When moving from area to area, please indicate it at the end of your post in parenthesis.
1. Overlook- The Overlook area contains some of the most expensive land in Kingstown. With a fantastic view of the lower parts of Kingstown, this area is highly desirable. For their price, however, the houses tend to be a bit smaller and crowded together. The people who live here tend to view their homes as a 'prize'. As though they won over many of the other people who'd like to live there. Thus, they tend to believe themselves that much better than the rest of the Kingstown citizens, even among other suburb dwellers. 2. Middle Haven- Middle Haven is the area located in the middle of the Ridge in Kingstown. The people here are typically ones who wanted to live in Overlook but pretend as though they didn't. Although still expensive, these are the least expensive homes atop the Ridge. 3. Lennox- Lennox is the northern most area of Kingstown atop the Ridge. The homes here are large with expansive lawns and yards. Still being close enough to walk or drive to the cliff, yet having plenty of land, the homes here can be rather expensive. The people who live here tend to think their homes are better than those of Overlook but tend to be much more humble about it. 4. Elswood- Elswood Park is a large park located atop the Ridge in Kingstown. It is a beautiful park with large wooded areas divided by paths, 2 baseball fields, a soccer field, and a children's playground. The park is open to the public but since its on the Ridge, most of the people who utilize this area are those who live in the suburbs. 5. Star Mall- Star Mall is a six-story super-regional shopping and entertainment complex on in the middle of Kingstown. It is the fifth largest shopping center in the nation, and the largest in the state of New York. The anchors and junior anchors include JCPenney, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Best Buy, The Bon-Ton, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Forever 21, DSW, Old Navy, Sears Outlet, Finish Line, and Off 5th. The mall has six above ground floors and one underground floor, though only the lower three and the underground floor are retail. The fourth floor is primarily center offices. The third floor includes a 19-screen Regal Cinemas, restaurants, and entertainment options, including a go-cart racetrack. The first and second floors span the length of the mall and house the various shops, vendors, restaurants and entertainment venues, with the major food court located on the second floor. The underground "Commons" floor houses medium-sized stores, a chapel, some kiosks, and the two underground parking garages. 6. Kingstown University- Located conveniently close to the mall, this area is comprised of the University's campus. Spread across a large area, many of the buildings in this area are used for academia. However, between them include restaurants, retail stores, offices, etc. While many of the homes here are discounted to students there are 3 residence halls. 7. Art District- The art district is located close to Kingstown University for obvious reasons. Artist alleys, theaters, as well as various clothing stores can be found here. Art studios as well as dance studios are more common in this area than the other areas. Also, the Kings Art Museum is located here. 8. Downtown- The downtown area isn't exactly the furthest south you can get in Kingstown but it is the furthest housing is found. The homes here are located close to the factories just south and thus are priced cheaply. However, this isn't the cities most 'at risk' area as most of the factory workers have taken up residency here. 9. Industrial- The Industrial sector is the area located just south of the Downtown area. It is the home of various factories as well as a large steam plant. 10. Corporate- The Corporate sector is a rather expansive section of the city located just north of the University. Here is where you'll find the tallest buildings and the most expensive housing (other than on the Ridge). With corporate offices and HR centers, it is a very busy place. However, do not underestimate the night life here. This area is home to the most bars and clubs within the city. 11. Fair Haven- Mostly a residential area, Fair Haven is a place of very decent living. Being close to both the Corporate district and not too far from the University and the Mall, the location is perfect for families. In fact, the name of the area wasn't always Fair Haven, it was once Fairfax. But after the Mall developed and the price of the housing here rose as a result of the location, the name was changed to Fair Haven. Its meant to parallel with Middle Haven in that the housing prices are similar. Yet no doubt it also doubles to say that Fair haven is 'better' because of the play on words, fair meaning attractive. 12. Arden- Another residential area, the Arden area is where you'll find the most modest housing. Located somewhat further from places like Star Mall and Kingstown University, the location isn't fantastic but it isn't terrible either. There are housing complexes and condominiums here, thus appealing mostly to the elderly. With access to the corporate section, the people here tend to travel to work but not much further. 13. Wolford- I DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE YET AND ITS LATE!!! 14. Warren- The Warren area is located on the south side of the ridge. Segregated by the river and the ridge, this area, as well as the Stern area, receives less attention than most parts of the city. As such, the housing here is very cheap. Unfortunately, this area is stricken with poverty and crime. Gangs seem to dominate here, being very territorial and forbidding anyone from the Stern area from entering. 15. Stern- The Stern area, very similar to the Warren area, is also plagued with crime. Though, while the Warrens won't let the Sterns through their area, the Sterns have the most influence on the Docks. Thus, they typically have more resources. 16. The Docks- Hardly a doc, the docks area is where much of Kingstown raw supplies come from. There is a small dock that receives cargo shipments daily here. Most of the supplies go across the river to the Industrial sector, but much of it is sent elsewhere throughout the city. While the Sterns have a lot of influence here, they do not run everything. Being an important area, there are more police stationed here than in the Stern or Warren area. [*]Keep in mind this is a game and people are roleplaying. Just because someone is playing a hateful asshole doesn't mean they are one. If you don't like someone's character- kill em. [*]In respect to the last rule, be as respectful as you can. Profanity and sex are allowed but to an extent. Do not abuse this privilege. [*]You will be allowed to play more than one character but no more than 5. [*]Godmodding- I will use this as an umbrella term for autododging, autohitting, and any other godly acts. Let me be more specific. If Robbie has a sniper rifle and Stacy is walking down the street completely unawares, Robbie can and will shoot you. You will not notice some random gleam or suddenly drop something at the perfect moment. Whether it is a head shot or not is another story. Id rather you respond on your own as to the results of the shot rather than having me step in. This is a PRIVILEGE that I am giving you. Do not make me regret it. Now, this does not mean that I allow autohitting. If, say, Robbie and Stacy were in a fire fight, and Robbie is unloading a clip at a cover-hidden Stacy, he's not gonna hit her. If she decides to run between cover, he's prooobably not going to hit her. If he sneaks around a bus and gets the drop on her, then he is far more likely to hit. Outsmart the PLAYER to the point where they can no longer escape/dodge and you will be victorious. Now, again, I'm leaving this to the player so if I see you running from cover to cover and you're never getting hit, I'm going to have to step in. I'd rather see you impose your own restrictions. You fall into some glass, you knock over your cover, you get clipped and have a fairly deep wound that may need stitches (but the wound is nonlethal), etc. Again, this is a PRIVILEGE that I'm giving you. Do not make me regret it. [*]In regard to whether or not you get hit by things, Id rather leave it up to the players, as described in the last rule. However, if little to no progress is being made, I will begin rolling a die behind the scenes (If youre a fat slow guy and you're trying to dodge a bullet, sorry but youre probably gonna need to beat a 17 on a 20 sided to dodge). Now, given the example of the Robbie the Sniper and Stacy the Ignorant, if Stacy wanted, she could request I could roll a die to decide how bad her injury is. In this case she would need to beat a 5 to live, a 10 to be conscious after the shot, and if she beat a 15, the wound would not be critical. [*]Further developing on God modding, your character should not and will not be privy to information he should not know. For example, Robbie the Sniper shoots Stacy the Ignorant dead. He then frisks her person and does not find anything. Robbie's PLAYER, however, knows she hid her item within a hollow heel on her shoe. He then checks her heel to find her item. This will NOT happen. You will only get ONE warning for this. [*]In reference to god modding, no one is god except me. I am God and what I say goes. That being said, if you want to discuss a decision I've made with me, feel free. [*]I retain the right to change this rule list at any point, though I promise to inform you when I do.
