Surprisingly enough, the mayor was unfazed by Jenniver’s attempt at intimidation towards him. Then again, one had to have a steel spine to run and manage a backwards town such as Iredele. He looked into her eyes with his one open green one, noting the look of mistrust present in her gaze. To that, he shrugged in return. She could trust him or not but either way it was his money she was getting. He nodded at her thanks and departure, eye shifting over to Leo now. The bold declaration on his part was a tad upsetting but that was how the world worked. And if Leo really wanted to go, there was nothing stopping him. So to that, Spencer shrugged again. There was a whole new batch of Hunters that could easily replace the bird masked man. All that the mayor cared about was keeping his town as pristine as it already was. “Sure Leo my man. Do what you want. You know Iredele will always have a place in your heart though,” the mayor called out with a backwards wave as he strolled away, his role completed for the day. Nearby, Maribel nodded with a smile towards Macey and Mu, the new Hunters that had introduced themselves to her. The comment about Tatsumi being her dad made the youngling giggle at the sheer amusement of it all. But she was smiling and that was at least something new in this town of bleak little dolls. The white-haired girl waved at the monkey accompanying the red-dressed man, Jin. “It’s very nice to meet you, all of you. No, I’m afraid Tatsumi isn’t my real father but he’s been a pleasure to have around so far,” Maribel said before turning to address his questions. “I don’t know the mayor’s purpose or why he does things the way he does. But I think it’s supposed to increase the chances of survival, if only by a sliver. As for you Hunters, you’re just here to kill the prey since there’s nothing else to do around here.” She didn’t answer the one about the danger though, eyes showing worry for once. Her fingers curled around Tatsumi’s and tightened, indicating that she wouldn’t answer that one any time soon. It was a good thing then that Sinthe and Akemi showed up when they did. “Hello Miss Akemi. And goodbye. If you’re taking these Hunters on a mission, then I’ll be out of your way then,” said Maribel, letting go of Tatsumi’s hand and moving away. “Don’t worry everyone. I’m not very good at fighting so I’ll visit whenever I can. Goodbye Tatsumi and everyone. Miss Akemi, please take care of them.” The girl said this and moved away, walking off in a direction that probably led to nowhere. It might have been some concern for her safety but she had mentioned that the monsters avoided her. She would be fine. What was most important now was getting to Paraanon Ravine. And so a hunt begins in darkness.
