The arrow and the bolt sent by Cateline and Jorn respectively both hit the wolf leading the pursuit for Jacob. Blood sprayed the white fur and the snow underneath it and the beast stumbled, dived head first into the ground and began rolling down the hillside, colliding with Jacob. Perhaps due to fear at the sudden hit as much as the force of impact, Jacob also stumbled and fell. "Run boy!" He shouted at Lars who was on his back. The boy showed little hesitation as he let go of his father, stood up and began running towards the Lancers while crying loudly. The wolves quickly overtake his father and couple of them jumped on him and started tearing him apart while the rest continued their pursuit for the young boy. Fortunately for Lars one of the hunters, a literal knight in shining armor, was galloping on his horse uphill and reached the boy before the beasts. Lars desperately grabbed the outstretched hand and Angriff lifted him onto the horse. For a moment, he was safe from the wolf's fangs. Seeing the knight pick up the child, wolves changed their target to his horse. However, as they charged at its exposed legs the light from Azalea's Psalm blinded them. One of the wolves, upon reaching the front legs of Angriff's steed, awkwardly stumbled into its legs instead of attacking. The horse, noticing the beast, reared and then brought its hoofs down on the wolf's head and back, crushing it to death. The rest of the wolves slowed down their charge or outright stopped it, and managed not to put themselves into disadvantageous position while blinded. They quickly regained their sight and five surrounded Angriff, while three positioned themselves between the knight and the rest of the hunters.
2 wolves dead, 10 more to go, although 2 are currently focused on Jacob
