The hum of the transporter was a shrill drone aboard the Ryllain solar ship. In a way the sound was almost soothing, allowing the High Lord Cardinal of this imperial Legion of the Angar-Rylla forces to enjoy the ride. Far below the clash of armies shook the earth, the explosions caused by ordinances or powerful magic shaping the very terrain. It seemed fitting the very planet should shudder as if in fear of the coming of the Angar-Ryllan Empire. It was only unfortunate for those who lived in this universe that they should face such overwhelming odds. Still, once they had tasted the yoke of the Angar-Rylla they would learn to live as they once did. They would of course only benefit the advances the Empire had to offer, the order it brought.

First however, first they would need to be made to accept Ryllain rule. They needed to learn to bow the knee.

Few remained this late in the campaign to oppose Imperial forces. One sector however, it seemed, had proven strong enough to resist. Intelligence gathered had revealed that the success of their enemies was thanks in large part to a woman, known in these parts as Rodetta The Red. So far, rather disappointingly, none of Khazna’s lieutenants had proven capable of putting this women down. It was becoming rather embarrassing really. So Khazna had opted to deal with this little annoyance himself; as he often said himself, the best way to deal with most problems was to do it yourself. Besides, it had been months since he had tested his mettle against a worthy foe, and this Rodetta sounded like a worthy opponent indeed.

Khazna admitted to not knowing much about the royal bloodline of this King Ifream the Red. Aside from the fact it had something to do with some folklore about giant lizards…. and the color red. The solar craft sailed to a stop slowly at first before stopping all together. They had arrived.

Khazna had sent a simple missive to his adversary. She had proven herself an adept commander to be sure. So they would settle this matter in a much more...intimate way. While their armies continued to break a five week long stalemate, the two generals would settle this matter in a simple duel- a test of arms really. One small contest of arms to decide the fate of a world. There would be no aid from the outside, not until a clear winner emerged. By this days end, one of the opposing armies would lose one of their greatest assets. Khazna was fairly sure it was not going to be the Imperial forces.

The large sleek white craft hovered several dozen feet off the ground. Right above the designated local their duel would take place. A simple field which itself held little strategic value. Still, what happened here could well decide this entire war. Khazna turned as his second, a man named Muriarion Elsinaine, walked onto the bridge. He saluted, though his golden features betrayed his nervousness.

“Lord Cardinal, all is ready,” He then cleared his throat and asked in a quiet voice, “Sir, are you sure about this?”

The man known as Tablurath, and one of the Empire's greatest tactical minds, only smiled under his black mask, matching the smiling visage adorning it. He laid a hand on his Lieutenant commander's shoulder, as if to reassure him.

“Ah, Muriarion, but where is your sense of adventure? Hmmm?” He chuckled, “with one simple victory here we win this war, coming one step closer to achieving our goals in conquering and uniting the multiverse.”

“Still, sir the risk-” But a raised hand from Tablurath silenced his protest. In the end Muriarion only sighed, his commander, while brilliant, was also quite stubborn when on a chosen path or course of action. “In that case sir, good luck to you.”

“Ha, when have I needed luck?”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minutes later Tablurath stood at the hatchway door that exited out into open air. He adjusted his armored bracer as he locked it into place. His athletic frame covered head to toe, his trademark skull mask obfuscating his features. Allowing only his dark eyes to be seen. Without hesitation he leapt, his cape bellowing in the wind as he dived out of his transports bay door.As he neared the ground her tucked in his legs and arms falling natrually into a roll which ended with him coming up from his landing roughly on ony knee, his right hand on the ground. The transporter hummed suddenly as it lifted away.

Tablurath’s cloak swirling to his up and to his right side, keenly revealing his two most trusted weapons. Both swords were sheathed at their sides, hidden away again as the man rose to his feet by the cloth of his cloak. As his ride pulled away Tablurath observed his surroundings, making sure to take note of every detail of what would soon be a small battlefield. The ground here was soft, the grass coming just short of knee level. In some places it was trampled down, most likely from riders. The fallen banners of one allied kingdom or another dancing in the breeze.

Some places were wet with the blood of the fallen, creating muddy pools here and there. In all the place gave the impression that a war was raged here, which if course was quite true. There were two hills near by, one a little north west of where Tablurath stood. Another at least twenty five feet to his far right. So it was here roughly between two hillocks he waited the arrival of the champion of King Ifream.

Rodetta could have done without this today, she didnt even want to get of bed let alone fight this ongoing skirmish with the Ryllan army. This was all getting tiresome, Rodetta's father, the fearsome King Ifream would start many battles he couldn't win or didnt need to fight because of his immense dragon fueled pride, Rodetta knew that the military resources were being stretched thin as it is, they couldnt afford to throw many of the best trained royal knights at this advanced adversary that they knew nothing about it. It was fighting for the sake of fighting, a blunder of dragon infused testosterone at its very worst.

But Rodetta was still princess of her land and was loyal to her father's campaign even when she didn't agree so she was slightly relieved when the enemy asked to break the stalemate in a one on one duel, she knew nothing about her opponent but this made no difference, she would end this war and get back to her training so she could start fighting battles she actually cared about. She sighed heavily as she put on her armor and made her way to the battlefield on a steed that was as red as the flames in her mind.

Rodetta raced past many of her fallen comrades and the strangely dressed forces of her Ryllan enemy, she shed a tear for the high ranking soldiers as she saw their mangled corpses, this foe was highly trained and vicious, she cursed her father for sending these brave men and women to their graves over his own wild ego. Past the scenes of fighting she got to two large hills in the famous fighting fields and spotted a small figure in the draw distance. A man in heavy armor and cloak was walking slowly towards her direction, as she closed in she readied her pike and shield while her longsword swayed sheathed at her side, she also hid a small crossbow sheathed on her back just in case and dismounted her steed, she was roughly 20 feet from her opponent as the steed ran back to camp.

Rodetta was now walking at the man's pace, this was clearly her opponent, and she was ready.

Did your commander promise you a bonus for my head? It takes money to motivate most to take me on by themselves, especially in a pointless conflict like this....

She lowered her pike and slowed her walking pace as she spoke.

Hands on his hips Tablurath watched the arrival of the woman he assumed to be Rodetta the Red herself. The breeze picked up as the sun began to dip to their west, casting the horizon in a deep blood red. Befitting given his opponent Tablurath thought privately. The skies holding few clouds that drifted lazily in the wind. A single lady bug buzzing between the two, and a small beetle scurrying beneath a rock a few feet away as if sensing the coming violence and wanting no part of it. These things were as plain as day to the highly perceptive Ryllan general. If not for the filters on his mask, Khazna might have smelled the pine dashed with the faint hint of rot that was heavy in the air; no doubt the result of the corpses of those who had died here.

Did your commander promise you a bonus for my head? It takes money to motivate most to take me on by themselves, especially in a pointless conflict like this....

Tablurath inclined his head. “Money? Pointless?” The man only chuckled. Seeming to find amusement in the women's words. He waved a finger in the air as if admonishing a child. “Oh, I fear you are quite wrong on both accounts. But never mind all that. The important thing here is you have a simple choice before you. I’d like to think I’m not completely void of compassion. So, I’ll give you this one chance to surrender.”

“If not, well.” He carefully drew his twin swords, pulling them back with a flourish ruffling the edges of his cape back. Their blades gleaming in the setting sun. "I’ll have to put you down. I’m not one to waste lives if it can be avoided. So I’d say it would be in your best interest to lay down your arms.”

He kept his arms wide, both blades pointed at the ground at either side. “A part of me though, hopes you refuse,”

“So, your answer?” he remained still, roughly twenty feet away in a neutral stance. As if mocking her.

The sun was setting fairly quickly, Rodetta liked the sunset light, it was calming and familiar. The man she faced was called Tablurath according to her intelligence reports but she knew almost nothing else about him except he was a skilled fighter. But that didnt mean anything to Rodetta, every man woman and beast that she killed was a skilled fighter, they all fell before her, this was just another corpse who didnt know it yet. She kept walking towards the man, closing in on him pike and shield at the ready.

This battle is pointless, if your superiors allowed you to think for yourself you would have realised that long before you agreed to this duel, this is a war built on arrogance a conflict that you seem to fit perfectly into.

Rodetta switched to fighting stance as the man offered her a chance to run away.

Have you ever seen a dragon run from its food?

Rodetta made the first move with two stiff and quick thrusts with her pike from a fairly long distance, one towards the mans to stomach and another towards his neck, keeping her shield tight against her body for the attack.

A dark mist bled out from Tablurath scabbards as he studied the slow advance of his opponent. As he suspected it did not seem she would comply and surrender. He admired her courage, however misplaced as it was. It would be a shame to have to kill her. Perhaps he could enlighten her to their cause? Convince her to use her talents for a more noble effort than supporting the short sided goals of her father? First he would need to test her and see for himself the extent of her skills.

He remained in the posture known as rei, the formless, as she approached. It was the apical of fighting stances. Only the most skilled of masters fought without any obvious stance, able to flow naturally from offence to defense from long experience. It had the added benefit of making it appear is if he was defenseless or unprepared to the uninitiated. Just as Rodetta was just ten feet out Tablurath bent his knees slightly, placing his left foot a little forward and waited for the first strike.

His opponent indeed wasted little time, immediately rushing forward into a jab aimed for his stomach. Tablurath wasted little time in reacting, ducking low while moving forward his right foot leading, bringing his right handed sword before him, the blades tip pointed up. The flat side of his sword aimed for just the base of the incoming spear point. If it hit, it would drive the pike to Tablurath’s left side coming within but missing by inches his left lumbar region, but effectively parrying the blow. Tablurath would then turn with the momentum of his swing counterclockwise. By the time Rodetta pulled back and sent forth another jab, this one aimed toward his neck, he’d have his left handed sword sweeping in from the right, then up. Deflecting the thrust toward the side of his face.

The quick turn had served the dual purpose of causing his cape to billow up between them. Obfuscating Rodetta’s line of sight for a brief second. Tablurath however, was not so hampered. Seeing the outlines of his opponent through the thin fabric thanks to his extraordinary sense of sight, his opponent's aura appearing as a bright fiery red. This he used to his advantage, masking his first attack so far. His right handed sword angled for a stab toward Rodetta’s throat. He leaned on his left foot which had swung around with him, putting him just within six feet of his opponent. Assuming his earlier deflection worked allowing him to get within his opponents reach. Rodetta’s swept pike thrust parried up to his far right side as Tablurath came in with a, if all things went according to plan, unseen sword thrust. The maneuver all taking place roughly within two heartbeats. The dark mist from earlier now quite evident in the air around them.

Rodetta knew the attack was going to be parried, it was simply a prompt to get the movement started. Her first thrust came in contact with the man's sword with a satisfying clink sound, but the momentum was parried away as was her second attack which was also knocked aside by the left hand sword. This man was indeed very skilled and slightly faster than she expected. His movements were fluid and relaxed not like the beserkers she was used to training against. She expected some sort of counter attack for certain.

The sky seemed to get darker as the man made his quick turn his dark cape like a black liquid as it rippled around him. Instincts from countless fights told Rodetta to bring he shield up to protect her vital areas, from the bottom half of her face to her knee, luckily her shield was big enough to cover this area, an unseeen attack clanged against he shield somewhere around the top. She seemed to have been right and blocked an attack, but was somewhat concerned that she didn't see it.

The air around them was now definatley becoming darker, and Rodetta did not trust it, it wasn't poison gas but something that could be equally as deadly, she decided to counter it with the thing she came to trust more than any weapon...FIRE.

Rodetta's aura around her instantly increased the grass under her feet began to singe and the air around her dried out. With one powerful yell she expelled a flash of intense but quick and light flames in an area burst around her, towards her opponent and as far as the mist was around her, whatever properties were in this black mist were soon going to incinerated.

All the while keeping shield up and ready for another attack, if the man was able to withstand the fire burst.

*Cling!*

The distinct sound of metal on metal alerted Khazna immediately to the fact his strike had not met flesh. Not to mention the feeling of unyielding steel as he met resistance. The cut did manage to slice through the fabric of his cape near the edge, keeping it in place for a moment, Khazna then pulled back with a flourish bringing his sword up around freeing it. It was at that moment Tablurath saw the flare of energy building up within his opponent.

Materializing to his sensitive sight as an ominous and intense red aura. There was no time to avoid it in their close quarters dance. He tucked in his limbs as best he could, crossing his blades over his chest to avoid cutting himself with them, just as the kinetic force of his opponents attack came full force. The fire burst rocked Tablurath back, even as he dropped backward curving into a ball as he did so. Thus he rolled with the force of the fire burst, his cape getting set on fire along with some of his gear. Thankfully none of his skin was exposed, saving him from any permanent first or second degree burns while the roll had helped kill any lingering flames.

He came out of the back-roll springing to his feet just fourteen feet away from his opponent. The motion combined with a tight spin to the left, having clicked the clasp for his cape, his left hand shooting up and behind him as he casted off his cape. Fluidly leaving him in a stance that had his right foot leading, right sword low and the other high, both pointing at the enemy's face.

His cape having already been positioned before him just before the fire burst, had taken most of the flames. Though now it fluttered away in the wind alight with embers as it slowly burned.

“That was my favorite cape.” Tablurath stated plainly.

He read the distance between them, judged the current of air, calculated time and distance. Then did something his opponent would have never expected. He underhanded tossed his right handed sword into the air sending it 20 or so feet above them. Having noted the dark mist from earlier had cleared, along with a good portion of the grass around his opponent. Tablurath filed that information away. It seemed that the nanomachines had been the target, not him exactly.

Interesting.

He moved forward then at the same moment he had tossed up his sword, fixing in his mind the strands of arcane energy left still pulsing with power from his opponents recent use of them. He’d need to bypass that pike of hers first if he wanted to get in range with his own sword. Luckily he had several ideas to circumvent his opponents defenses. More dark mist swirled from his scabbard as he moved, he immediately swept his other sword through the mist. Causing the Mibs within to instantly begin constructing a perfect duplicate. As he came within eight feet the sword was finished and he cleanly caught it in his run.

He was aware of being within striking distance of his opponent's weapon. If she struck out he would prepare a defense. If not he would be free to move forward to just about six feet away, sending his newly minted right handed blade into a high thrust. As if to stab his opponent in the face, though with the twist in his wrist as the blade was held upward would allow natural transitions to follow through from that position.

The fire burst definately did its job, it cleared the suspicious mist, the fire wasnt able to hurt the man much beyond his cape, but that was fine she wasn't aiming for him anyway. The opponent was prepping the next attack, his sword style was very interesting, Rodetta was used to high ranking soldiers swinging swords as if they were cutting wood, but this Ryllan warrior moved like an eastern assassin or a fencer from the northlands his stance after rolling back from the flame's path was elegant and hypnotic. Rodetta silently grunted in admiration.

I want to know where you train, my men could benefit with a little grace in their swordplay, too bad it's wasted on a corpse like you.

He tossed one of his swords in the air and formed another out of the same strange mist from his scabbard, there was obviously an attack coming, and it was going to be creative, Rodetta needed a safe maneuver and it would be tricky but very do-able.

Like a well conditioned spring, Rodetta took to very quick steps back before making a huge back jump which allowed her to clear 2 feet while still facing her opponent, while midair in her back jump she hurled her weapon like a javelin at the man, aiming for his mid section so she would be most likely to hit something at this fairly close distance. After hitting the ground she would raise her shield once again ready to defend, and use her now free hand to have her hand close to her sword handle, all the while back stepping further away if he chose to advance.

Khazna’s opponent had proven to be as worthy a foe so far as he had hoped. With that had come the realization this could take longer than he had first thought. His meal prepared for him back at base might even get cold! The moment he sent his sword into the air his opponent had started backpedaling. Tablurath had caught his new blade while he made for a quick pursuit. It was then he saw it, his opponent made one great leap backwards as they shifted the grip on their spear into an overhand. In Tablurath’s mind he interpreted this new information, digested it, running through a multitude of possibilities in microseconds.

However, the most probable possibility was brought to the forefront that made the most sense in the Cardinals mind. The realization hit him just a moment before his opponent reared back to throw. At this distance there would be no way to move completely out of the attacks way, his swords being of no real defence against such a large missile. The world seemed to slow as if it moved through water as he studied his surroundings, noting that the fiery attack had burnt away and flattened much of the grass where she had stood moments ago, which revealed a few stones and discarded pieces of equipment; even a lance plunged into the ground twenty feet away to his 3 O’clock. A plan formulated in his mind as he took in this new information, just as his opponent was about to release her spear.

Khazna swung his body on his left foot to the right just as Rodetta released her makeshift missile. The weapon shot forward toward his abdomen, his tight turn allowing the weapon to pass across his stomach region. The blade of the spear however, still managed to nick him, his body moving just too slow to avoid the blow altogether. It cut into the armor padding there, his protection at least saving him from a fatal wound. The lower stomach section of his suit was now supporting a horizontal gash, but Tablurath suspected he had gotten away with a small cut and some bruising at worse. There was no time to stop and assess the full extent of the damage anyway, what mattered was his forward momentum had not stopped while he was able to avoid the worse of the attack.

He made a complete 360 degree spin. As he came around he used the gathered inertia from his quick spin to release his right hand sword into a horizontal spinning throw. Not at his opponent however, but diagonally several feet above them at another target entirely. The sword was sent through a mist of mibs, which congregated immediately into a perfect copy which fell tip down. Tablurath did not even waste a single movement, catching this new blade with his new free hand with practiced ease. The sound of his newly thrown sword cutting through the air as it twirled about toward his first airborne sword from moments ago, the trajectory planned perfectly.

His dodge had allowed his opponent to reach even further away at sixteen feet. Now however, he moved to close that distance just as the faint sound of metal striking metal could be overhead. He smiled. The first sword that had been tossed up had been falling end over end, but the additional force of the second sword striking just so caused it to fly into an even faster end over end spin, the added momentum shifting its path and speed. It whirled downward vertically in a deadly end over end spin that would bring it down frighteningly quick to intercept his opponents backward retreat so that it ended up cleaving through her helmet and forehead from above.

Unless his opponent suddenly stopped short of her retreat, she’d face a nasty surprise from above. Doing so however, would of course give Tablurath plenty of time to catch up, after all catching someone who was running backward while you were running forward was a simple task. A task made simpler by his more lightweight armor. In fact, he’d not be surprised if she tripped over something in the high grass in her haste. Which, if his opponent was observant, was oddly shorter than previously.

What he did next would all depend on his opponent's reactions. Where they shifted their attention to, how they placed themselves. Regardless Tablurath was ready to act as he entered just short of the ten foot mark.

It was a clever move, the graceful dance of the Ryllan opponent was a almost a joy to watch, he twirled around the pike but it managed to scrape past him a little, not a major attack but it was something at least, the pike impaled itself in the ground just behind him.Now as he span around he readied an attack by launching one of his swords at the airborne sword that she was trying to avoid! The collision of the weapons made the the blade spin towards her in very speedy fashion, not only that but the man had began to chase her as she was backstepping.

He would surely catch her especially if she was to stop to avoid this blade, but she had a strategy and she was sticking to it, she had to keep on the backstep no matter what. Her feet bounced elegantly off the now even surface of almost non-existent burnt grass and dirt, she tried not to panic, it was very easy to fall over while retreating like this if you tried to go to fast or lost focus, but she had to try something.

Her shield arm raised above her head like an umbrella not knowing the trajectory of the falling sword did not matter she braced slightly mid backstep and CLANGGGG!!! the sword bounced off of her super durable Shield, using her other free hand she opted to keep her sword sheathed still, and instead reached for her Caltrops which were also made of a similar material to her sword and shield super sharp and nigh indestructible, used to pierce through any armor her blade could on the shoes of an assailant running over them. She thew a large bunch in front of her as the Ryllan closed in in front of her.

The only draw back of the maneuver was now in backstep with her shield above her head and her free hand used to throw, she was completely defenseless and off balance for this moment, it would not take much to knock her over....

Khazna watched as his opponent anticipated the coming blow from above and raised their shield to counter it. A sensible maneuver to be sure, textbook really. And all apart of Tabluraths calculations. His sword ricocheted off the women's shield to spring back from the impact uselessly in the air. His opponent seemed intent on keeping her distance it seemed when Tablurath noted she reached for a handful of something…

In one quick motion Rodetta dashed out numerous small little...caltrops! Khazna noted their telltale three prong spikes as they fell to the ground filling the space between them. Khazna saw them and recognized them for the danger there were...but he didn't even hesitate as his legs continued to pump. With a daft movement of his hand he flicked his right handed sword into an overhand and throw it like a spear forward. Not at his opponent's now unprotected chest or stomach, no, instead a scorched section of earth that was currently littered with caltrops.

The blade struck fast, the momentum of the throw causing the hilt to rise up, as if the sword was some kind of lever. Khazna jumped then just as he came to the ground currently booby trapped. His mind had taken into account the plethora of factors. The scorched earth had become hardened just enough at it’s surface to allow his sword purchase, just the right amount of strength needed to cause the blade to swing just right, too much and it would have simply sunk deep into the ground. Too little and it would have not had enough energy to stop as he had needed it to. One wrong move and it could have spelled disaster. But this was the world in which Tablurath thrived in. What had made the ever calculating general so dangerous. Using every new obstacle against his opponent as fluidly as water flows around a rock.

His jump landed his right foot directly atop the sword hilt of his recently thrown blade. How many swords did that make now? That he had thrown to achieve some desired effect or goal? Well it was about time he caught one back for a change. He had no sooner landed, body crouching down as his weight caused the sword to sink into the ground, before he sprung up into the air again. He flew, seeming for one bliss moment that he would simply start flying indefinitely, before gravity began pulling at his body once more. His sword had been set just far enough within the caltrop field to allow him to reach his opponent in two bounds. This was the second.

As he came down he deftly caught his wayward sword as his right hand shot out to his side, catching it without even looking. To an observer, it would have seemed like this entire series of events had been planned from the start.

From the moment he had tossed the first blade into the air to the point where now he caught it again. That first sword having never touched the ground this entire time. He tucked his feet into his body as he flew straight for his prey. His only war cry a musical, “Huzzzaaaahhh!!”

Just 8 feet above his opponent he sliced before him in a horizontal cross, which cut through the misting of mibs around him, creating two more replicated blades on either side of the Cardinal. These new swords would finish their construction to then fall just moments after he collided with Rodetta. Two constructs tended to take longer than one. It was a good thing there was so much metal, stone and grass littering this battlefield. His eyes plotted out several strands of energy around her in case she decided to make use of them again as he descended.

Thankfully his opponent had not drawn her sword from before. By the time she had retracted her hand from her throw and grasped her sword halt, then began drawing it. He would already be upon her. If she did go for her sword he’d likely reach her while it was just a little over halfway clearing the sheath assuming she went for it right after. Her quickest response of course was her shield. If she used that, her most ready form of attack and defense. Tablurath would land heavily upon it’s surface, before simultaneously kicking off, the force of which given her mad back peddling would easily knock her off her feet onto her back while launching Khazna into the air again. Which direction he would jump was anyone's guess.

He was pretty clever , Rodetta was not ready for the man to use his own sword as a spring board to clear the the part of the field which were littered by her caltrops. Plus now she was off balance, her backstepping had failed her, she could feel her self falling backwards, and she did not care, this might just work. She was now squeezing her right fist as once again the red energy was boiling again in her spirit, the man would probably have a counter for her sword or shield at this moment, so she decided to forgo either. It was scary seeing this deft warrior falling toward her like a meteor, but she was a dragon princess this was not going to shift her resolve.

Let's see you spring board off this!

Her right hand was now glowing with red energy, and Rodetta was growling with what sounded like a dragon's guttural roar. Rodetta the Red tapped into her natural pyromancy and launched fairly large fireball straight up at the man, who was falling towards her. Rodetta was no eastern ninja, but she knew as well as anyone that aerial attacks left you basically no room to dodge, gravity had already dictated your path. Rodetta was quite accuarate with her fireballs and with this fairly imposing man so close falling in her range she didn't even have to be accurate. The fireball was about 3 feet tall and wide and shot with the speed of a cannon, this was launched while rodetta was falling backwards, she hit the floor hard as part of the recoil of the fireball.

The stumble hurt as her shield and armor bashed against her own body upon impact, she expected some bruising from the tumble. She did her best to tuck her feet in and roll backward to return to her feet hoping to lesser the impact and gain just a foot or two more distance backwards, before the the Ryllan hit the ground...if there was anything left of him to hit the ground.

It had come to this. As the Lord Cardinal descended his opponent raised their hand releasing a ball of flame directly toward him. Any other warrior would have been defenseless in the face of such an attack. Khazna didn't even bat an eye. The body of fire shot upwards, but in Khazna’s eyes it was an intricate web of energy, filled with innumerable strands of crisscrossing pathways that flowed with ethereal power that gave it the shape it existed in now, and like all constructs, they could be made to break. With the elegant twist of a sword, using the momentum of his earlier swing, Tablurath plunged the weapon forward at the last moment the fire storm would have consumed him. He felt the hot oppressive wave of heat hit him like an unseen gale of wind on a stormy night. The light of it stung his eyes, which thankfully were protected from the heat by his mask.

Then in another instance it was gone, embers of heat flickering out as if the entire thing had imploded on itself. The Cardinals extraordinary sight picking that one strand of energy that needed to be severed, that same flicker of fiber he had had his eyes on before she had even began creating her ball of fire. When the ball had collapsed, so had the heat it had created leaving, but a plume of smoke in the air between them. The smoke was no obstacle to Khazna, seeing his opponent as a skeletal figure made of red webs like living veins pulsing with blood. He emerged from the smoke just moments after his opponent had fallen on her back from the force of her own attack, already attempting to roll back over her head.

He had calculated the probability of her use of fire again after her earlier use, adjusting and adding it to his choice of weapons and tactics. Sadly few were they who could catch Tablurath with the same trick twice. So there was no loss of speed or momentum in his descent upon defeating the attack. Leaving his opponent rudely unprepared as she tucked in her legs and rolled backwards. His right handed sword which had absorbed most of the energy from the collapsed fireball, that power now causing it to glow a menacing red, was posed to stab the rolling woman directly through the back mid roll as she was in the midst of her maneuver. The added force from the fall, along with the raw power pulsing in the sword now, should give it enough force, speed and cutting strength to pierce the women's armor. The thrust aimed specifically for the cervical vertebrae area and would quite likely end this bout indefinitely should it land.

Given the women's awkward position and the speed of which Tablurath was coming in for the kill. Avoiding the blow, which likely she did not even see coming, seemed in the realm of the unlikely at best, to impossible at worst. Even so, once Tablurath landed in a crouch he would spring forward if his blow was somehow avoided to continue the assault.

She wasnt sure how he did it, but he did it, he absorbed the power of the fire in to his sword and destroyed her attack, still falling as quickly as he was, as he clumisily tried to roll, there was no stopping him now, he was like a meteor already upon her. She got just to the end of her roll when Splinttttt the man's blade hit her back with incredible force. This was it, with that much strength she was sure to be impaled....but she wasnt.

The Blade did indeed hit her in the back and she felt the force of it but she took no damage whatsoever...why was this? She returned to her feet ant the end of the roll to catch a glimpse of the man's sword, it was pulsing red with the fire energy..From my own fireball! Of course, I almost forgot I am completely immune to my own fire, coating your blade in my fire ball has basically turned my body into a blade repellent, what a shame you almost killed me.

Rodetta smiled wickedly in that second the sword bounced off her body and drew her own her own blade, Dragoncrest in all its shimmering glory finally ready to taste flesh.
The Ryllan was directly infront of her his last attack just repelled off the woman's back like a magical spring, she was not going to waste a second.
She swung her first attack from the draw, a fast horizontal swing directly infront of her aiming for the Ryllan's abdomen, then she followed that with a shield bash to create some space if, the man was then at a reasonable distance she would then finish the combo with a sword thrust to the man's mid section.

The stuttering sound like metal hitting stone greeted Khanza’s ears as his sword struck the back of his opponent's neck. This new information was quickly figured into Tablurath’s battle strategy. What did it mean? Even the kinetic force from his momentum had proven to have no effect. His blade deflected toward the ground sinking into the dirt. He left it there as he landed in a crouch, knees bent not wishing to waste a second as he used that position to spring forward. Despite his first attacks impotence he had no intention of stopping. His first blade had curiously been found lacking, but he’d see how his second sword would fare.

As Rodetta came up from her roll, Tablurath brought his left handed sword up and around, cutting in a horizontal swing from the right of his opponent aiming for her neck while she was still in a crouch as she started to stand from her roll. Seeking to take advantage of her awkward position as she recovered from her backward roll to fully stand and before she could clear her sword from its sheath. Tablurath had kept track of the descent of his two newly forged swords in his mind's eye, his right hand ducking the behind him palm up.

If his first swing was blocked, a difficult proposition given his opponent's position and the speed of his attack, he’d go low in his next swing with his newly caught sword coming around aiming for the side of her knee; the sword held in a hammer grip but with blade reversed. Going for the gap in the armor there while he retracted the first sword back. His opponent had proven quite resilient thus far. He almost hoped she continued to prove as hard to kill just to see how well she was with that sword of hers.

If she ever got the moment to draw it.

Rodetta was fresh from the roll but she was agile and fast, she drew the sword at same speed as the time it took her opponent to launch his attack. The Ryllan had made a swing at the her neck just as she swung at his abdomen, because of her crouched postion to the fairly tall man their two swords clashed together spectacularly. The impact of the of the blades meeting sent the force down her arm as she smiled with delight of a competitive battle. Her smile would be short lived though as the opponent had also attacked her weakly protected knee. She was able to see the attack as it came but wasn't able to bring her shield in the way in time as she was standing. The best she was able to do was raise he leg slightly as to not get caught in the kneecap directly. But the cold steel slicing into he shin area hurt frightfully. She cursed as the man drew first blood, all though the attack didn't cripple her the pain was somewhat distracting. She was now angry. Now that the man was right in front of her, she decided to fiercly headbutt her powerful foe, while his right and left hand were pre-occupied. With her shield ready to block any counter he threw back at her.

Khanza’s sword clashed with the women's in a spectacular display; even as the Ryllan General followed up managing to finally land telling blow on his elusive opponent. Suddenly his opponent shot upward too quickly and at too akward an angel regardless for him to read it. Her helmed head struck the center of his face knocking him backward and cracking the mask he wore, it’s padding the only thing that saved him from a broken nose.

He stumbled back a step before his left leg shot behind steadying him, his right handed blade spun about in his hand skillfully so that the blade pointed up. While he instinctively swept his left hand wide to the side, causing the edge of his left hand sword to strike it’s falling clone constructed from earlier. The strike sending it spiraling away in an arch back into the air leaving it just nine feet high and 3 feet from his opponent's right side.

Effectively juggling the weapon in the air while regaining his balance as he calculated his next move. Khazna‘s mind was temporarily ajar from the force of the impact, but he had to hand it to his opponent, they knew how to think on their feet. A little over seven feet now separated the two before Khanza renewed his attack. His right hand sword weaved in front of him in a flash of movement to mask his left hand blade as it came in from an acute angle, aiming for trapezius of Rodetta; where the shoulder and neck met on the right side of her body. All the while severing strands of energy preemptively.

The pinky and third fingers on his left handed sword eased up with the wrist titled backward. The grip perfectly angled to allow him to pull of a quick reversal maneuver all the while leaving his opponent unaware.

Rodetta was happy to be back on her feet and in fighting stance again, she was shocked to realise that she was enjoying fighting this man, she had became bored of countless fights on the battle field against nameless men with nothing to prove but a ridiculous allegiance to a nation that sees them little more of shields of meat and bone. As the Ryllan manipulated his multiple sword strategy Rodetta thought of her father, and his ridiculous thirst for battle she was feeling his bloodlust in her veins, his desire, his rage and most of all his insecuirty he was a weak human who made a pact with dragons because he resented the limits of his own human ability. Something Rodetta never agreed with. She understood that her dragon spirit was an unnatural merging and she never became comfortable with the spirit of a prideful beast constantly battling with her logical human mind. Regardless, she was in a dangerous fight and needed to use the advantages that were given to her. She was an amazing swordswoman but her skills were only enough to keep this general from killing her, she was not going to win this fight on fencing alone.

With that thought the ryllan had juggled one of his swords near her, in the air to her right side and immedialy charged forward with an an angled attack to her neck with his main hand sword. Now luckily he was a good several feet away from her as he launched this attack which gave her ample time to react. Her father would have probably lunged forward gnashing and cursing with a large swing in this situation but Rodetta respected this man's skill too much. She chose once again not to engage but instead of backstepping she darted in a sprint to her left. Running Away from the attack and the aerial blade altogether, rodetta was in pain from her shin injury, but the huge advatage of her light and strategically worn armor was that it was incredibly easy to move in, she was happy to be more suseptable to injury as long as she could move as fast as she wanted to when in trouble, something her father never approved of.

Rodetta is very fast runner covering a good 8 feet in a 2 blinks of an eye, while leaving another scattering of caltrops from her starting point to her new path. The part of the land she was on now was hardend mud with very little grass growing, baked in the sun from the intensely hot week that preceeded the day. Rodetta knew her land well and enjoyed the traction she had on this particular foundation.
Draaaaaakkkeeeees, hearrr meee crrryyyy!!!!!
Against her better judgement she screamed as she ran, it was an inhuman cry would have caused great pain to the ears of a weaker man, and terrified the mind of a civilian who had never been in contact with a beastly creature. Rodetta knew that no dragons lived in this part of the world but hoped that maybe a lesser drake may hear her call for assistance, although it would be a while before one could come over from the mountains. The stakes of survival just got a lot higher.

Khanza had to admit his opponent was continuing to surprise him even now. Instead of defending herself from his attack she instead opted to break into a run in the midst of such close quarters combat. This surprised the Cardinal, but he did not hesitate in his strike. His opponent might think themselves fast yet no one could outrun a sword blow simply by running away. The average human stride was approximately five feet, Khanza only needed half a step to close in range for his weapon. As Rodetta turned her body to the left, Khazna swung low aiming for the back of her exposed right legs knee. Aiming with the true edge of his left hand blade as he bent into a crouch sliding his left leg forward to brace his weight on.

Regardless of how fast she was, she’d need time to get to her full running speed from a standing position after a quick turn. Tablurath’s attack was one simple motion; a quick lunge using the weight of his body and gravity to speed the blow home. The woman sadly had no such advantage. It was often true more often than not in war that more men died in the heat of battle from a blow to their back, often after they had already been routed. This woman was going to learn that lesson the hard way. She’d have little chance to avoid or properly defend herself from the attack. Should it land she’d easily be hamstrung from the blow and left crippled.

Should she somehow avoid that attack, Khazna was already sending his right hand sword into simple twirl so that the saber was gripped blade down. A strong throw sent the sword toward the center of her back with deadly accuracy not unlike a pseudo javelin.

Rodetta judged distance badly, the near constant pressure of this skilled dueling warrior had her making hasty decisions, and her injuries, though light were affecting her long term strategic decision making. The Ryllan would find his attack hitting her so evasion was not an option it was time for a split second reflex, Rodetta attempted a back parry, swinging her sword behind her in a somewhat awkward angle to deflect the blade as she was running. This attempt was not a good idea, her sword met his with a satisfying clink but the parry was done half blind, instead of the opponents sword being parried down and away, his attack that was aimed for the back of her knee slid up her sword and glanced up her forearm, this was not a powerful carve but the angle was so it didn't need to be, the blade found it way just around and underneath the weaker part of her armor near the wrist and cut her moderately deep leaving a long gash that finished just before elbow.

The pain was clean and cruel, for the first time in the battle Rodetta yelped out in pain. She made a mistake and she paid for it , and she had to be quick with her next move otherwise she would be caught with a fatal attack, this opponent was not going to let her get away with too many more mistakes without killing her. Rodetta was not slowed by the attack however and managed to get 5 more feet away after the attack landed before turning around, it was time for more aggressive tactics, using her sheild arm she threw her remainaining caltrops out , the space around her and directly in front of her were now littered with these little metal demons ready to pierce the shoe and slow and injure if stepped on. The throw allowed her to put her shield in front of her ready to block a follow up attack. At the very same time as that throw she stabbed her sword into the ground with blood now trickling down her arm, channeling fire into the ground ready to launch a small volcanic attack to wherever the man may approach.

The cries of a young female drake could be heard from the mountains, Rodetta would not be alone for long.
