Once they finished their dance, Jar said: “I think the first thing I should do for my lovely girlfriend is buy her dinner, and then we’ll get to the celebrating part.” He winked his right eye at her. Lila agreed that she too was hungry, so they walked to the beach hut restaurant, hand-in-hand, like they weren’t exes just yesterday. It was so easy to fall back into each other, it seemed so normal, even though it had been two whole months.

They ate at the very same restaurant that Delilah had doused him in martini at the day before. “I don’t know about this, I might have PTSD.” Jar said playfully and gave her shoulders a rub to show that he was kidding. The bartender eyed them warily as they walked in, looking like a happy couple; apparently their scene yesterday wasn’t quickly forgotten. Jareth didn’t end up eating there the day before, so when he looked at the menu, he was pleasantly surprised. His vegetarianism was largely based on refusing to pay into the meat business because of the well-known cases of animal cruelty. This restaurant, however, offered local seafood, caught cruelty free from their natural environment. Hell, it was vacation, so Jar indulged in a little protein and got the catch of the day and a side salad. Lila ordered some kind of red meat dish, not that he’d judge her for it. It wasn’t really his thing to preach to others, his morals were his alone.

After enjoying their meal together, Jar and Lila took that moonlit walk along the beach. She asked how the band was doing, Jar told her about Jessie and Eric’s latest escapades, he asked about how her dog was doing, and her classes. They caught up with each other, their conversation was peppered with laughter and sighs about what they’d missed. Both of them avoided the sensitive topics, about her pregnancy and her time away, no need to ruin the mood of a good night…

“So, my place tonight?” Jar asked with a smile as their walk on the beach ended behind the condo. Delilah gave him a quick kiss on the lips, [i]“Sounds perfect, JarBear”[/i] she said and bit her lip in anticipation. Feeling a bit like hormonal teenagers, they scampered through the hallways, stealing kisses in the privacy of the elevator , until they reached the condo door. The guys condo was quiet, Hunter hadn’t returned yet, and Grant’s door was closed. Jar assumed that he had turned in for the night, being the responsible guy Grant was. Jareth hoped they wouldn’t wake him up, but he would make no promises.

Jar closed his bedroom door behind them and smiled at Delilah liked a giddy schoolboy. This was too good to be true, he was waiting to wake up from this dream and go back to living out the nightmare. Lila let out a soft moan before parting her lips and staring into his eyes with a familiar smolder. He slid his hands down her sides and around her waist so he could pull her close and sing the next verse.

Delilah nodded her head, playing into the lyrics he sang for her. Jar moved his hands under the hem of her shirt; the heat of the touch was enough to sear their flesh. He didn’t realize until then that he had been like a man starved of food, he needed her. It didn’t matter how many girls her tried to fill the void with in Delilah’s absence, he had never had this much raw chemistry with another person before. Somewhere in their time together, desire had turned into love, and wanting her felt the same as the need to eat… or to breathe. Jar leaned against her and sang into her ear, the volume was just above a whisper, and his breath was tickly and warm.
