[hider=Staff Changes][indent]It’s been in the works for a while, but the Guild is now appointing individuals to moderator powers within certain subforums on the Guild. It should really come as no surprise that [@mdk] and [@Terminal] are now in charge of contests in title as well as in truth, since without them there would not be contests as we know them right now; they’ve been doing it anyway, this just makes that official. Look for future implementations of a similar scheme on other subforums; no we do not have a timetable for that.
By the same token, [@Lillian Thorne] has stepped down; as the longest-serving of the current crop of mods, with a service that extends back to pre-Guildfall days, we wanted to take a minute to thank her and wish her well in future pursuits – she was an active contributor here and very dedicated to the Guild’s well being and hopefully we’ll still see her around from time to time.[/indent]

[h3][color=f7941d][b]C[/b]hanging It Up[/color][/h3][list][*] RPGN has gotten a bit boring for those of us still standing from when it started, so we’re implementing changes to the format to make it leaner and less of a read. We’re retaining the Notables and the Thought Experiment, carving out a lot of the other stuff and we’re adding a bit on Share the Experience, which is a listing of books, movies and music that inspire roleplaying or have something to do with the themes we often work with. While there will be a more concrete theme next issue, this month we’re going with “Awesome.”[/list]
[h3][color=f7941d][b]T[/b]hought Experiment[/color][/h3][indent]Thinking about the what ifs for characters can be fun and a great way to figure out and learn who exactly your character is. Considering the given situation below let's share and discuss how you think one of your current or past characters would respond to this scenario.

[h3][color=f7941d][b]S[/b]hare the Experience[/color][/h3][indent]We all have things that inspired us to RP, books, movies, music, and many other things. But since we don’t all come from the same place and, sometimes, a great work might go unnoticed by someone that would absolutely love it like ships passing in the night. In the future, we may tie it in with the contests (brainwave) but right now, we’re going with a list of just really awesome works that shouldn’t be missed. Next month’s theme will be the 1980’s, a fabulous decade, and submissions for this portion of RPGN can be submitted to [@RPGN]’s PM. While we are not linking these works directly, it should be easy to find them online through the various free and legal means that exist.[/indent]

Tolkien which discusses the fairy-story as a literary form. It was initially written (and entitled simply "Fairy Stories") for presentation by Tolkien as the Andrew Lang lecture at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, in 1939. The essay is significant because it contains Tolkien's explanation of his philosophy on fantasy and thoughts on mythopoiesis (myth-creation). - [b]Movie: Conan the Barbarian (1982)[/b][indent][sub][i]American fantasy film co-written and directed by John Milius. It is based on stories by Robert E. Howard, a pulp fiction writer of the 1930s, about the adventures of the eponymous character in a fictional pre-historic world of dark magic and savagery. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones, and tells the story of a young barbarian (Schwarzenegger) who seeks vengeance for the death of his parents at the hands of Thulsa Doom (Jones), the leader of a snake cult. (per Wikipedia and currently available on Netflix.) After watching this movie, you too should know how to answer the question, “What is best in life?” correctly.[/i][/sub][/indent]

Produced by guitarist Jimmy Page, it was recorded between December 1970 and March 1971 at several locations, most prominently the Victorian house Headley Grange.
