To give an idea of how this might work, say your character is stabbed in the face while your entire body in encased in cement and you're in a sealed, unobtanium-reinforced box of solid metal. You will then promptly die, even if you decide, [i]"Oh my, I really don't want my character to be dead right now."[/i]

Your OOC feelings regarding your character's fate have no weight on the matter, basically.
