I'm not a Unix person (I just code), but I do love recursion with GNU's Not Unix.  It's the most novel acronym I've come across.

We don't speak of the olden days. But in all seriousness, it was painful prior to some of the more user-friendly languages. It makes me question how high of a level programming languages can actually become.
