The 'Event Horizon' Coalition/Confederacy.
Who are they?: The unwanted, outcasts, dregs, refugees, crazy people and criminals of the various factions of humanity that have banded together for numerous reasons, united against an uncaring universe because it is safer to travel in a pack then stick it out on your own. What do they value?: The Event Horizon Coalition/Confederacy has a wide verity of values due to the large number of different factions, cultures and ideological groups that make it up; Some have gone so far as to have called it a crucible of humanity but no less then seven of the Coalition's different factions (At least one of which is made up of A.I) will respond, saying that is complete and utter bullcrap. Still, over the centuries the various factions have come to accept each other and the strange mixture of cultures and ideas have themselves seemed to have become a new culture all of its own. There is a strong sense of 'Us vs the Universe' in the Event Horizon Coalition/Confederacy, fostering a desire to work towards the greater good of everyone else in one way or another; It's not an idealistic utopia or anything of the sort, but everyone generally understands that stealing from and killing each other is a bad idea. If the ship stops working, everyone is screwed is a surprisingly good teacher when it comes to cultural tolerance and working together to a mutually beneficial goal. They also value the abilities of salvage and repair, the quick gathering of resources without setting up a long term settlement or outpost and the portable production of goods and parts. What do they despise?: Once again, the values (And thus dislikes) of the Coalition/Confederacy are as varied as the groups themselves. The only major universal hatreds are anything that would attempt to enslave or exterminate them. What kind of state are they?: The Event Horizon Coalition/Confederacy is surprisingly a Democracy. The system in place is that every couple of years every member of the Coalition/Confederacy will be asked which political group they consider themselves apart of; The result will be tallied and each party will receive a number of voting representatives on the Confederate Senate that correctly reflects the percentage of the Confederacy that supports that party. The number of representatives on the Confederate Senate is fluid, due to a long standing agreement that no one political group will ever have a true majority of the Senate's votes by themselves. What is their population?: The total population of the Coalition/Confederacy is around 63,357 citizens (Made up of various strains of humanity, several of which are gene spliced or mutated strains that have stabilized over the years and several types of A.I). How much infrastructure have they set up?: In the past, the Event Horizon Coalition was largely a fleet based pirate nation that understood that if it was going to survive it needed to gather resources as quickly as possible and getting back on the move before one of the many nations that wanted them eliminated managed to track them down. As such, when they came across a planet that they could mine or grow food on getting a short term but effective and comfortable settlement with the required abilities to grow food or mine up and running as quickly as possible became an art form. While the change into the Event Horizon Confederacy has resulted in a bit of a change in how long the settlement is going to be around for, they still pride themselves on how quickly they can get a functional and productive settlement up and running. On their new home world of Crucible, there are currently three full fledged city settlements that are up and fully operational (The largest city being the capital, Forge) with plans to use the resources already gathered to revive the Event Horizon and regain space travel to allow for the terraform and settlement of nearby celestial bodies. How much technology have they already salvaged or developed?: The Event Horizon was always an ugly but tough son of a bitch that was designed with surviving in an uncaring and dangerous universe to begin with, but between the Confederacy's technological improvements over the centuries and their habit of stopping for months every now and then in order to mine and create serviceable spare parts for major systems along the way the ship itself is in relatively good condition all things considered. Even if it wasn't there are plenty of crew members that having a living knowledge of what at least one system does and how to create/fix it. While it will take time to gather the resources needed to repair the Event Horizon and even more in order to create a shipyard to create other (If somewhat smaller and less grand) ships, they have the knowledge and the experience to do it. It is only a matter of time. Who leads them?: The current face of the Confederacy Senate is the Speaker of the Senate Mr Nailbrain, an A.I droid that had once been apart of a Milky Way nation before he saw the signs of raising A.I fear and aggression and managed to escape before the Government ruled that all A.I's had to be turned over and destroyed. Due to the synthetic skin that covers his body Mr Nailbrain appears as a young man in his late twenties with tanned skin with black hair. He also wears a black eye patch in order to cover up his damaged eye that he had never had the time or desire to work out how to replace until this point. What sort of bloke is s/he/it?: Mr Nailbrain has dedicated his existence to the Event Horizon Confederacy just as he did back when it was merely a Coalition of the despite and the damned. He is the eldest member of the Confederacy and claims that he had come aboard the Event Horizon before the Event Horizon Coalition had even formed, joining the humans that were fleeing from the iron heel and blazing torch of the 'Truth' because they were not 'pure' enough. Many consider him a kindly but firm grandfather figure of sorts. How does s/he/it actually command?: He doesn't, he is just the most publicly known member of the Confederate Senate. He does have the rare honor of being the first and so far only Speaker of the Senate, whom ensures that the Senate itself doesn't get bogged down or runs completely wild. What does s/he/it have to deal with to do stuff?: The Confederate Senate, but largely he keeps it on track and productive. His word and authority have a great deal of sway to ensure that things stay civil and matters are dealt with in a timely manner.

What was it's name?: The Event Horizon What type of ship was it (aside from being a colony ship)?: A heavily modified capital ship that was almost a hundred years old before it made the trip to a new galaxy. What defended it?: While it started off with a rather impressive anti-capital ship missile system and a anti fighter arrangement of auto turrets that would ruin any pilots day, time, repairs and ammo has demanded that much of the old system be scrapped and replaced with inferior but easier to maintain and supply defenses. Running away and living was the standard method of defending the ship. How advanced was it?: It was once the stock standard capital ship of a nation that was long ago lost to the Holy Empire of the Genteli. It was a solid military ship in its day but it didn't have the edge it needed to turn the tide in the end. Do you think it should still have more to salvage from it?: Almost all the original systems have been replaced over the last few centuries with love, spit, duck tape and a can do attitude... If anyone who hadn't spent their whole life working on maintaining, making and replacing the different parts of the Event Horizon tried to salvage her they would call it a lost cause. Those who know better know where to look for what they need through... How long do you reckon it should theoretically take to get it running again, after acquiring all of the relevant technologies?: In order to get it to 100% working condition with everything operational and going better then ever, taking into account gathering the resources required and making the parts themselves, it would take about two or three years of solid work. Getting her operational to an acceptable level and then continuing the repairs while its actively working will only take one year through. Maybe once a ship yard is up and actively making new ships will we consider repairing it completely for old time sakes or finally retiring the old boy for good.

What type of planet did they land on?: A garden world that is just on the knife edge of starting to be one, Crucible is covered in volcanic activity that is slowly but surely coming to an end as one by one its volcano's grow dormant on its southern lands, which is where the Confederacy is settling down on. The activity has caused a great deal of metals to be forced to the surface and easy to mine while the volcanic ash has made the ground highly fertile and ready for plant life. Aside from the "Star name: Number" designation, does it have a special name?: Crucible. Do you think it should have the remnants of any previous inhabitants?: No. The decrees in volcanic activity is fairly recent and any advanced space faring race would have been hard pressed to justify the risk of setting up an outpost there. Do you think it should've been already inhabited, and your Nation had to waste resources invading it?: No. Life has not had the chance to naturally evolve here yet. We got here first! What sort of atmosphere does it have?: According to myth, Earth once had an atmosphere like this. Don't believe those myths myself... How many continents?: One big one to date. How big is it?: Old records compare it to the size of mars. How bountiful do you think it should be, in terms of biomass and materials?: It is a volcanic world that has undergone the never ending rains and cooled down enough to support life, even if it hasn't had the time to make its own yet. You tell me. Does it have any unusual materials or minerals in its' surface?: It may, we haven't been here long enough to find out. Does it have any other unusual features?: The north side of the planet is still choked by ash and volcanic activity, resulting in fairly common earthquakes and ash storms sweeping south. Lucky by the time it reaches us the ash is merely ash and not a superheated cloud of toxic death. The single moon also glows a rather calmly blue at night as well.

The Event Horizon Confederacy is currently constructing a ground based shipyard so that they have the means to build an orbital shipyard and other such platforms. At the moment, they are not space faring.
