The house elves are suppose to be taking them, though some people didn't acknowledge that for some reason. lol But it doesn't matter too much. Your character doesn't necessarily have to follow the house elf if they don't want to. Since they probably know how to get to the auditorium by themselves anyways. You can just say it as if your character is following a crowd of students who are following the house elf.
