We are hunted.

The humans, the superstitious humans, have tracked us down across the world.  Every day, our numbers dwindle.  If this continues, an ancient and noble race will be wiped out because of human beliefs.  There is no safe place for us, not anymore.  Not after the human kings annulled the treaty granting us sanctuary.

We are in danger.

As our numbers shrink, we are getting more and more desperate to survive.  Some of us are turning on each other, seeking to become the strongest.  They think that will give them a better chance.  They don't know what I know.  There is only one way for us to survive.  We must stand tall, establish a land of our own, and defend it with tooth and claw and magic.  We must show the humans that we are not to be trifled with.

Kitsune are Japanese fox demons.  All you need to know for this RP is that they have powerful magic, as long as they have their starstone.  They have a fox form and a human form; when in human form, they still have a few fox features, most often ears and tails.  Kitsune are very long-lived, and gain another tail for every hundred years they live.
This is set in another world, in the age of swords and spears and horses.  Very few, if any, humans have magic, and it's usually not very powerful.
There are 5 kitsune clans: the Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, and Darkness clans.  What clan a kitsune is in will affect their appearance; for example, a Fire clan kitsune will likely have red fur or eyes.
You can be kitsune or human, whatever you please.
