Many in the Guild had ridiculed James when he'd volunteered to take the job investigating a 'curse' on the mansion of some corrupt lady's home. "This is ridiculous, brother, there are other requests that make a more meaningful impact on the world." James had simply regarded them and shook his head before leaving and setting out for the road to the mansion. As he'd traveled, he listened to the whispers of others as he passed, saying that he looked like trouble. Of course he did, but somehow guards still missed him when he mixed himself in with the crowds in cities, towns and villages. Perhaps it was simply the number of people that threw them off. Still, the storm unexpected. Or at least the switfness with witch it struck had been. James had seen it on the horizon just an hour before it struck, but had calculated he'd have at least enough time to reach the village before then. And that was to be a two hour walk. Instead, it had reached him in half the time and in the rain, he'd somehow managed to loose his way, reaching his final destination and resting there for the night. One of the rules had been no personal weapons, but not all his weapons were obvious and as he dressed the next, he placed the bracers that bore his hidden blades in their traditional place, giving a test flex to ensure a smooth draw. Content, he stood and exited his room, heading towards the dining area. It was time to ask the servants of the home some questions.
