I've met a few people from the Guild, though once was at a comic convention, and I'm pretty sure they had no idea who I was.

Hey so someone on the Facebook Group suggested a skype meetup/google hangout to maybe get the ball rolling maybe we can get a show of hands and if I cant get it as live recording itll encourage others if they see it? I'm happy to do all the facilitating

That's pretty much my thoughts too, not to be a downer or anything but one of the first rules of internet surfing is never to meet up with anyone IRL unless you really trust them and ...I'm not sure I do.

It's particularly not looking good when the organizer's second most recent status reads as: "If I had a dollar for every woman who didn't find me attractive, they would eventually find me attractive." ...Creepy.

I'm just saying. :P.

Well you don't have to come if you don't want to, remember not all of us need 'mom's permission to leave the house.

If youre judging people's real life character based on their current status on a forum then maybe its best you don't come along.

Just saying of course.

I'm just being wary, afterall you're expecting us to meet up with someone we barely know whoknowswhere. If there's a clue as to who this meeting entails, I'd be blind not to take it into consideration.

IRL, mistakes cannot be afforded when it comes to things like this. I've had my share of meeting the wrong people and I would rue encouraging anyone to make the same mistake by not saying anything, for they might not be as fortunate as me to live through it. Such lessons are better left unexperienced.

I think your passive aggressive defense does you no credit.

I'm not expecting anything, I havent presented a waver for anyone to sign, I haven't invited anyone to some abandoned warehouse I'm throwing around an idea, and offered to facilitate if no one else wanted to, and if you paid attention to my posts in this thread I was actually trying to put together a google hangout as per suggestion of the skype meeting. Its a shame youve had bad experiences through meeting the wrong people, but you are inferring bad intentions on my suggestion as if its the same thing.

And passive aggression or not, implying someone is a creep in real life based off of a status they put up 3 weeks ago is staggeringly ignorant.
Maybe if I change it to 'Modern expectations of value in dating are equal and perfect' then I would've been a more wholesome individual?

My recommendation is to pick a public place and proceed carefully. I've had people try to pull me into these things but I'm not very keen on the idea on a personal level because so I've made my excuses for the most part.

I'm honestly not sure why I'm so reticent about it, but I've been on the Guild for years and have basically met no one from here. I've been in other communities for a long time and have not generally been keen to meet people. Of course, I did meet one person from one of those other communities who was local to me, we had a relationship and it went badly so I suppose I'm in the 'once bitten, twice shy' category.

I don't think I'd go to a specifically RPG Meetup, but if it was a bunch of people from RPG going to a different event, like a con, then I might go.

As if a big group got together and was like "Hey we're all going to SDCC to meet up if anyone wants to come."

That way if I don't like any of you I can still enjoy myself.

I've had plenty skype interaction with people I've met here. Hank recently told me he showed some other members around Amsterdam when they visited.
