Too stereotypical for a native american-like character to be my archer? Then again, Japanese people are still running around with katanas.
It would be more stereotypical to be running around with a tomahawk or club variant, the majority of 'Native Americans' in the conventional sense used the bow and arrow before and for a while during colonization. Though the Aztecs were more fond of the Sling, and only Jungle Incas used the bow and arrow. So it really depends on what tribe your character was from. The bow really isn't a cultural weapon, it was a solution to a problem which a wide number of different civilisations discovered and mastered at different times. I don't think there was anything particularly unique or special about First Nation's bows either, unlike the Middle Eastern variety or even the British Longbow.
