Abilities: Possessing abilities that are in line with telepathic communication, Miranda is a special case within this group of mutants. Miranda has the ability to allow mass telepathic communication amongst those she reaches out to. Essentially she’s a walking walkie-talkie. While two persons doesn’t hinder her performance, the more people she has accessing this ability of hers, the less capable she is in other activities, for she has to focus solely on maintaining the communication webway. Birth place: Santa Barbara, California History: Born to a single mother, Miranda learned how to take care of herself at a young age. While her mom was at work, she cooked, cleaned, worked, and attended to her schooling mostly on her own. Realizing the distance that could potentially come between mother and daughter, Miranda’s mother allotted Sunday to spend with her daughter be it a day out or simply staying home and catching up. As Miranda grew older, she became very aware of the fact that she could communicate with others and even animals. When she told her mother this, her ‘voices’ were thought to be nothing more than symptoms of some foolish psychological disorder. Her mother told her not to bring it up again, and she didn’t. She continued to utilize her ‘gift’ with any organism other than humans for fear of being shamed yet again. For a time, she believed the conversations were all but a figment of her imagination while she attributed her connection with animals as being a animal person. That was until she saw the news about the mutants however. Out of all the people that could’ve turned her in, it was her mother that drew the attention of the authorities. Taken from her life at a young age, Miranda was placed in a mutant camp where her rights were stripped. Her people were under constant guard while scientist explored and probed them. While the government told the public that their treatment was humane, Miranda saw the concentration camp as a modern day Nazi genocide site. Thus began her hatred for her own race. When the world drew closer towards the precipice of human induced destruction, the aliens appeared. What started out as wonder turned into horror as the aliens descended from the sky and obliterated humanity’s cities. Nations fell while mutants and normals alike were consumed by the alien war machine. Though Miranda’s distaste for her species outweighed her love for it, for every soul that was lost to the invaders - mutant or normal - Miranda felt a pang of pain. She’d found something else to hate. Her vendetta with the soldiers, the scientists drew to a prolonged hiatus. Since the world fell, Miranda joined a resistance group that consisted of mutants and normal human beings. Fighting to survive each and everyday, Miranda and the other telepathics freed any crowned human whenever they got the chance. It was either fight or die. Miranda merely gave the chance to all who were willing. Those unwillingly would rot in the ground soon enough. Personality: Violent and ruthless in both battle and daily life, Miranda houses very little empathy due to her experiences before the aliens descended from the skies. She harbors a strong hatred for humans though she tries to repress these impulses for her group’s cohesion. Embodying the very phrase of ‘the ends justify the means’, whatever got the job done, she’d do. As long as there was an outlet for her violence, Miranda would be satisfied.
