It was much lighter than the real thing, and it could not shoot- he did not yet know how to eject mass from the poem - but he sure could use it to startle a threat he did not want to hurt. Not that this was his purpose here; he was merely demonstrating, returning Roxy's threat without even realising she did threat him.
