Human species or subspecies is a species that can be reasonably assumed to have arisen from the same genetic ancestor as Homo Sapiens.

This means the species has to be fundamentally Human, in much the same way Neanderthals or Flores men were.  Of course our definitions are less ridged, but I am pretty sure you guys get the idea and the looser framework in which I'm applying it.
