Subject 133
Alex smiled and nodded. "You can call me whatever you wish to, Sony." They parted as she went in search of her own book to read but he barely registered it, gazing at the rows of books in the history section. Several were on this Alexander 'the Great' but he had yet to determine whether the man was worthy of such a grand title. There were a few other biographies on other long-dead people so he collected a few, most of which were on the Ancient Macedonian, before looking for Sony. Then he spotted the newest entrant to the library. His eyes instinctively narrowed. What is this? Jealousy? No reason for that. Irritation? No, it's deeper than that. Mistrust. Yes, but why - I've never talked to him. He was the victim. Or was he? He seemed fairly in control the whole time... which meant he knew what might happen with Red. He's a manipulator then, that's where the instinct came from. Better keep an eye on him - Doc didn't seem quite so ready to leap to his defence earlier. I need more information on this. Shaking away his internal analysis, Alex focused his attention on Sony. Her face was drawn and the focus on her face was too intense for merely reading. As he approached he could hear her reading aloud while she glanced occasionally at the troublemaker. Deducing the source of her apparent discomfort, Alex moved around her and chose a place so that he was sitting in such a way that he, and his considerable pile of books, blocked most any sight of the others in the library. "What did you choose then?" He asked, attempting to divert her attention. "Hemingway? For some reason that's in here... some kind of great literary figure apparently. Nicely chosen!" He then gestured to his pile. "I got a few, apparently there's quite a few Alexanders from the past and I can't take just one book as evidence. Apparently I'm a very suspicious person." He smiled mildly with a short, warm laugh. Is it still a lie if I'm pretending to joke while I know it's true?
