2 characters are totes acceptable. As long as you can handle them there's no actual limit to the number of characters. As for the unbalance, that don't matter; I'm making a male character rn to even things out haha. And if anything, the character could be paired with an NPC until someone else joins or makes another character (as long as they don't mind it)
