Yes, they are cousins. A male member of the Vega's married a female member of the Dei's which is why she bears the Venetian surname but is related to the Dei's.

Also I was thinking for the music class thingy we could start it at a clean slate since it did not work out well at first. We could just say this week is the first day of music class.
