Aurora
From the wastes far north of the coastal town of Urenda a lonely figure appeared still covered in the remains of the snowstorm in the night. It was a lone girl that approached the spotting range of the town's watchtowers. The snow still clinging to her coat and hood slowly blowing off due to the strong wind coming from a westerly direction. Only after she got closer could the guard see the white fox trailing the girl. It was a most wondrous sight and one of much grace and beauty. Not that the girl heading for the gate even actively tried to evoke such feelings. For those born before the Great Descent it bore a feeling of peace and solemnity of days long past. For some guards it might have looked like an angel that came to bless them. But all these magical feelings quickly evaporated as the girl came close enough for the eye to see enough detail. It was just a young nomad girl clad in a self-made coat of white fur. Only the hood she still continued to mystify the figure approaching. It was not long after, as the first morning rays of the dim sun pierced the whites of the heavens, that the girl stood in front of Urenda's gates. "I ask to enter this city." A calm, but icy-cold voice was expelled from underneath the cover of her hood. "What's your name, girl? Lift your hood, so we might see your face.", one of the guards at the gate replied dutifully. Slowly and softly the girl pulled back her hood just far enough so that one could just see her face and a few strands of snow-white hair dancing in her face. "Aurora.", she simply stated, no emotions audible in her still icy voice. The guards clearly overwhelmed not only by the beauty of that face, not because it was the unblemished face of a princess, but because it showed the hardships of her life in a way that still preserved the natural elfin beauty, but also because of her unwavering steadfastness in front of the guards which were used to girls of her apparent age being afraid of all kinds of soldiery. Finally one of the guards managed to squeeze out a "Where are you from, what is you business here?". For the first time in this short conversation emotions were visible on Aurora's face. A little smile formed on her face as she pointed northwards. "I live in the wastes and I require material to build a house. I intend to sell some furs and buy tools here." The satisfied guard opened the gate and let the girl walk in where she headed for the local inn. The fox, meanwhile, had crawled up her back and sat on her right shoulder now right above the giant backpack she wore. Entering the inn she strode past all the early morning drinkers and sat on a stool of the bar setting down her giant backpack next to it. With a lovely smile, which would strike the hearts of the earlier guards who only saw her frozen mimics before, she petted the fox on her shoulder. "Innkeep, I would like to stay overnight for two days in your noble establishment. Are any rooms free for a girl like me?", she requested calmly over the noise of the bar, her icy voice, however was enough to pierce through the calamity around her. Said innkeeper nodded and motioned her to wait a while because of the customer situation in the inn. The excess time she had, Aurora used to look around her doing a slight bow of her head to the dwarf next to her. Still, it might have looks silly since the inn was warm enough, but Aurora still didn't fully remove her hood.
