Espionage School/Team I used to do a RP with my friend James where a bunch of kids ended up a specialty academy that turned out to be a school for special operatives. It was a bit fantastical in the concept. Maybe something I could revisit here—the breakdancing clown assassin is probably the goofiest thing that happened, but it was more about kids and the drama revolving around the school’s true agenda. Horror-Murder Mystery aboard a Train I’ve been re-reading “Murder on the Orient Express” lately. This is also a RP I’ve never tried yet so it’d be an interesting exercise. Would need to discuss this at length, I wager. Apocalypse/Post-Apocalypse Admittedly the primary ideas I have somewhat rounded out have to do with things you aren’t partial to with the whole ban on zombies and the supernatural. That pretty much leaves the enemies in the Post-Apocalypse being other humans, I imagine. Whilst the whole Fallout approach works fairly well enough for me, I’d have to bounce ideas off you if we went this route. Mecha Sci-Fi Probably the easiest one to setup, I imagine. Though as you know being a fan of the genre the possibilities of a RP here since we can go into squad-based shenanigans (Argevollen), an ignorant kid thrown into something bigger than he is (Evangelion), or a girl who finds herself needing to be protected by a mecha pilot for reasons (Full Metal Panic) – or something in-between the three or decidedly different. Psychological Horror or Thriller The last psychological horror games I did were admittedly influenced by Silent Hill or The Suffering, so I’m not sure if they work fairly well. I mean we could go the route of “Naoki Urasawa’s Monster” or “Ryukishi’s Higurashi” and making it based around the themes expressed there— I’d be optionable to either, but I haven’t done a RP quite like those two in… ever, actually. Could be a neat writing challenge.
