I just finished [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviathan_Wakes]Leviathan Wakes[/url], which I would definitely recommend. 

It was refreshingly fast-paced (for me, anyhow) after reading the entire [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperion_Cantos]Hyperion Cantos[/url] this summer, which I felt got progressively less impressive after each book, though book three is easily the worst in the series. 
Now I'm just idly working my way through an anthology of tribute short stories set in the Dying Earth universe of Jack Vance.

 Basically, it's a bunch of fan-fic, but it has respectable authors writing it instead of 13 year old girls.
