National History: As parliament in London attempted to rebuild itself after the fallout, they were struggling. An eccentric pre-war billionaire, Nikki Webster who had kept her wealth almost entirely in gold emerged from her shelter and promptly bought a controlling share in the government and reformed it to her personal company state. Under her harsh, but effective regulations, the assets of UKE Inc. quickly grew.
Leader: CEO Hjordis Falk
Describe the Govt.: The entire state is for all intents and purposes a company with a CEO at it's helm and all citizens in it's employ. The CEO has absolute veto power down through the management trees of the divisions. The CEO makes decisions with the aid of his Board of Advisors composed of other higher ranking members of the company.
Technological Overview: The primary goal of UKE Inc. is reviving old trade values, as such they salvage and restore all transportation and raw material sources (Mines, oil rigs and the like) and production facilities (Pre war factories and refineries.) They have one working oil rig in Norway with a second scheduled to come online within two years. They have an active transportation fleet, now proudly sporting 8 commuter ferries, 3 large cargo freighters and a tanker. Their land transportation is similarly well equipped, with many old lorries and busses bringing people and cargo to and from it's destinations.
Cultural Overview: The media is heavily monitored by the company's media division, UKE Entertainment Network. UKEEN controls all publications and radio broadcasts to ensure that everything adheres to company values and ideals. Everything is very politically sanitized and awkwardly correct. Any infractions are punishable by Re-education Seminar.
Military Description: They hold a small, but well specialized PMC wing, UKEDef. The UKEDef branch employs roughly 50,000 people who are hand picked depending on dissension probability and brand loyalty. They are outfitted with body armor and typically with SMGs. They have an active naval force of 7 varying ships typically in use as escort for shipments. Their land forces are quick and mobile, employing little heavier than light APCs. They have a separate subdivision, UKEPol employing 5,000 similarly outfitted employees to enforce company regulation within their borders and to execute Re-education Seminars.
Other Notes: Anyone born in UKE Inc. territories is automatically granted citizenship and employment status, to quit or be fired is to lose one's citizenship and all the protections that come with it. Child labour regulations are lax at best, giving each emplyee an education period that lasts until they are 7. At that point they must seek gainful employ or be terminated. Despite this gap, they are remarkably open to other people. At UKE Inc. it doesn't matter what colour your skin is, or who you like to fuck, so long as you can earn your dues.
Each employee has an account with the company and all living fees are subtracted from their monthly pay during the month. At the end of the month the remaining value of their pay (positive or negative) is credited to their account.
Despite the poor conditions the populace generally lives in, they are kept complacent by UKEEN's advertising and propaganda.
