military training or body guard training is a lot more than just shooting a gun. If they were someone who worked in that position, they would be hyper aware of their surroundings. Ex-cops would know the way the law works. Vets would know hand-to-hand, and how to survive in firefights. Bodyguards know crowd control. Longtime crooks would be able to read a situation. I haven't read your CS, just throwing out potential skilz they would gather.
