Smiling once it was his turn, having literally slept through the waiting period. Not because he was bored, but that he was already tired from the stairs, and figured a power-nap would make sure he was at 100% for the duel. Though he did feel somewhat bad that Hayato lost, since by the law of being annoyingly happy and optimistic, Hayato was already the first friend he had here. Whether he liked it or not. Duel, Megan VS Haas, Clash of Gears and Swords!
Megan walked up to her soon-to-be competitor. "Hey, you probably already guessed but I'm Megan. Guess we're going to be dueling next. Which means of course we need to decide who starts things off." she said in a friendly manner and assumed the proper stance. Haas nods, an eager smile on his face. "Mhm!" He says before getting into the same stance, before saying: "Rock...Paper..." Megan said it in synch ending with both of them saying "Scissors!" Hand outstretched flat, Haas had chosen paper. Megan's own hand was like a mirror, displaying that she had chosen the same. Megan shrugged giggling a little, "Alright one more time." Surprised that they had both gotten the exact same result, Haas chuckled slightly, before going into the appropriate destiny dueling Rock Paper Scissors stance. "Rock...Paper..." "Scissors!" Different from last time at least, Haas had two fingers outstretched into a scissors formation. Using logic Megan determined that Haas would now choose scissors thinking that she would choose the same thing, but since she knew what he thought she would beat him with... scissors?! Staring blankly, Haas wonders just how something like this could happen twice. "R-Right...uh...A-Again?" he asked, scratching the back of his head, somewhat embarassed that this happened twice. Megan laughed it off, "Uh, ya, one more time I guess." Usually she was really good at this. A determinded look on her face she once again, "Alright, rock... paper..." "Scissors!" Hand clenched tightly, Haas' iron fist was outstretched into the formation of the rock. Obviously the most powerful rock type in existence. Megan confidently didn't change her hand's shape, remaining in the easiest choice that of rock. Her opponent was no doubt trying to trick her by changing once and then not changing the second time. But such tricks wouldn't work on her... AGAIN? She stared at the result awkwardly, "This uh... doesn't seem to be working. Maybe a coin toss is in order?" Haas crossed his arms, confused on what the numbers were behind this...it was like the universe was in favor of a draw. But hey, there was no way to tie with a coin. Quickly pulling a spare coin from his pocket he nods. "Alright. You call it in the air then. Winner picks first or second. Alright?" he asks, poising the coin to spring off his thumbnail. "Sounds good." Megan waited with anticipation carefully watching the coin, ready to call as soon as sit went into the air. Megan didn't have to wait long as Haas flipped it into the air a good 10 feet above them, the metallic surface shining in the lights of the arena. "Heads!" Megan called out confidently. Haas crossed his fingers, hoping for tails...which never came, as the coin, defying logic, probability, and kicking reason to the curb. Just landed on its side, perfectly balanced vertically. "...HOW!?" he cried out, sinking to his knees and staring at the coin. Megan stared at the coin dumbfounded. She couldn't even do that on purpose, much less with the randomness of it falling through the air and landing on the, no doubt no perfectly smooth, floor. "Um... how about you just go first alright?" Megan said shaking her head, what were the odds of that even happening. Maybe she was just getting all of the bad luck out of her system. Or worse, all the good luck. Haas nodded dejectedly. He wanted to settle this in a fun way, but destiny just seemed to want a damn draw to this whole duel. Taking a deep breath and rising to his feet, he says: "Alright, My Turn!" as he draws his starting hand.

Turn 1: Haas Megan LP: 4000, Cards: 5 in hand Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 5 in hand Quickly scanning through the cards at his disposal, Haas held the selected spell card out to face Megan. "I activate Shard of Greed!" he called before setting it into his spell/trap zone. A tiny fragment of what appeared to be a red eye sat beside him. Setting another card face-down into his spell/trap zone, Haas sets a card into his Monster Card zone face-down. "I'll end it off there. Over to you." he says, a hint of excitement in his voice. Turn 2: Megan Megan LP: 4000 Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 3 on field, 2 in hand "Draw," Megan stated as she took another card and examined her hand. Hm, not too much to do here just try to begin setting things up. "Alright, I think I'll set one monster, one facedown card, and end my turn." Megan felt a lot better now that the duel was started, before she had butterflies but now she was just eager to play. Turn 3: Haas Megan 4000 LP, Cards: 4 in hand, 1 set monster, 1 set spell/trap Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 1 set monster, 1 set spell/trap, 1 active spell on field, 3 in hand Hyena- 1000 ATK "Draw!" Haas called out, adding his new card to his hand. "Now that I've drawn, Shard of Greed gets a counter on it!" He declares as the eye slowly gains green glass-like mass, almost looking like it was part of something. Placing a monster onto his field, he says: "I summon Hyena, into attack mode!" After which, a rather hungry and cartoonish looking hyena slinks out from behind him, snickering before he says:"And now, I'll reveal my other Hyena!" Same dealio. Both Hyenas started running around in a circle , before a spiraling black torrent of energy formed. "Now, I can overlay my two Level 3 Hyenas to Xyz Summon!" he calls before the two jump inside as two balls of brown energy. "Come on out, Rank 3, Mechquipped Angineer!" he says before a robotic being emerged, around the same size as him. "Battle Phase, Angineer, attack her face-down." he orders, the Roboangel heading in to attack. Mechquipped Angineer- 1800 ATK An Xyz summon this soon, Megan's deck didn't even have an extra deck. This duel already looked like it might be difficult. She watched the attack slam into her facedown monster turning it into pixels. "Now that you've destroyed my Lady of The Wasteland, I can Special Summon 1 Earth-Warrior monster with less than 1500 ATK from my deck, and I'll choose Obnoxious Celtic Guardian." A well dessed warrior wielding a sword appeared it place of her lady. Obnoxius Celtic Guardian- 1200 DEF Nodding in response to her effect, Haas says: "I can't do anything else, so I'll end my turn there." Turn 4: Megan Megan LP: 4000 Cards: 5 in hand, 1 monster, 1 set spell/trap Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 1 Face-Up Monster, 1 Active Spell, 1 Set spell/trap, 2 in hand Megan drew her next card silently considering what to do next. This card should be able to tie with his monster then she could simply bring it back. "My first move will be to summon Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke in ATK mode!" Megan said and a ninja covered in wrappings and wielding two small knives appeared on the field Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke- 1800 ATK "Now I'll enter the Battle Phase, since my ninja has just enough attack to tie with your Angineer, I'll attack destroying both of them!" Her ninja obediently leapt to attack, his knives whistling as they came towards the mechanical menace. Haas smiled, calling out: "I activate Angineer's effect! Once per turn, during either players turn, I can shift my attack position monster to defense mode, and he can't be destroyed by battle OR card effects until the end of the turn!" As he spoke, one glowing ball of light faded from around Angineer, as it shifted to guard itself, pulling its wings in and curling up. Mechquipped Angineer- DEF 1000 Megan was disapointed for a moment but she still had more monsters on the field. "Well I guess that makes it your turn." Turn 5: Haas Megan LP: 4000, Cards: 2 Face-Up monsters, 1 spell/trap, 4 in hand Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 1 Face-Up Monster, 1 Active Spell, 1 Set spell/trap, 3 in hand "My turn!" Haas calls out, drawing his new card, before the shard slowly gained more mass. "Alright, now that I've drawn twice from my draw phase, I can destroy Shard of Greed to draw two more cards." and, just as he spoke, the fragmented shard shatters, a cackle escaping it as it vanished, before two cards entered Haas' hand. Smiling slightly, he reveals a monster card, calling out: "I normal Summon Dogu in attack mode!" before a large clay doll the size of himself appears from the ground, making a soft whistling sound. Dogu- ATK 1900 "Now, I'll set one card and enter my battle phase." he says, setting a card in his spell/trap zone. "Dogu, attack Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke!" he calls out, as the clay doll spins in place, going at a rather high speed towards the ninja. The ninja held his daggers in front of himself futily as he was smashed to pieces by the fierce attack. Megan didn't comment as 100 LP ticked away, it wasn't a big loss, though unfortunate. "Now, for your guardi-" Haas said before realizing that Angineer was still in defense mode. A long, awkward pause emenated from him until he says, "Main Phase 2. I shift Angineer back to attack." Mechquipped Angineer- ATK 1800 "Turn, end," he says, trying to hide his embarrassment. Turn 6: Megan Megan LP: 3900, Cards: 1 Face-Up monsters, 1 spell/trap, 5 in hand Haas LP: 4000, Cards: 2 Face-Up Monsters, 2 Set Spell/Traps, 3 in hand Megan held back a laugh when she saw Haas's mistake. This was fun. She drew her next card and gave a smile of relief. Nice, this should solve her dilemma nicely. Though... she might want to take things cautiously. Whatever, if she shifted her guardian to attack mode. "First thing I'll do is summon my Goblin Attack Force in, Attack Mode." Goblin Attack Force- 2300 ATK "Then I'll switch my Swordsman to Attack Mode as well and enter the Battle Phase. Goblin Attack Force, attack his Dogu!" The horde of goblins charged forward jabbering and swinging their weapons. Obnoxius Celtic Guardian- 1400 ATK Blinking in surprise as the attack force ran out, Haas says: "T-Twenty three hundred?" somewhat nervously. That was a strong monster, even with its downside. Thinking of all his options at the moment, Haas took a deep breath and takes the hit, the clay doll shattering into pieces as 400 damage was taken. Not too worried about that much damage, Haas just placed Dogu in his resting place. Megan grinned, booya, first monster down. And now... her second monster didn't have enough attack to finish his other monster. Oops. "Alright, now my Goblin Attack Force's effect activate and they switch to defense mode." The horde lay down on the ground panting heavily from the attack cleary unable to battle. Goblin Attack Force- Defense 0 "Your turn." Turn 7: Haas Megan LP: 3900, Cards: 2 Face-Up monsters, 1 spell/trap, 4 in hand Haas LP: 3600, Cards: 2 Face-Up Monsters, 2 Set Spell/Traps, 3 in hand Haas nods. He had an ever so slight disadvantage, but this was definitely manageable. "Draw!" he called out, adding his new card. Looking at his options for a moment, Haa smiled slightly. "Alright, I can finally bring these guys out!" he says, before saying, "I Normal Summon Wind-Up Kitten!", sounding a bit more excited than he had with Dogu or Hyena. Suddenly, a little mechanized cat emerged from behind him, mewling slightly as it rubbed up against Angineer. "And now, because of his effect, I can Special Summon Wind-Up Shark from my hand when I Summon a Wind-Up!" he explained before a similarly designed mechanical shark swam through the air, little key in its back turning with each motion. Wind-Up Kitten- 800 ATK Wind-Up Shark- 1500 ATK "Battle Phase! First, I'll have Kitten destroy your Goblin Attack Force!" he says before the cute mecha kitties eyes turned a deep solid red, before it screeched and hissed at the goblins, before pouncing on them, tearing through their defenses...unless the Goblins could save themselves. "Next, Shark, attack his Guardian!" he says as Shark starts swimming towards the Guardian before suddenly swimming quickly to his backside, making a swing at his feet with his tail, dealing 100 damage if it hit. Megan watched as both her monsters were destroyed in quick sucession and she received a trifle of damage. At this rate... "And finally, Angineer, direct attack go!" Angineer nods and slowly lifted off the ground, before targetting Megan, launching a single missle the size of an arm at her, the blow dealing 1800 damage if it would hit. "Not so fast, I'll activate my trap card, Call of the Haunted, summoning my Goblin Attack Force back to the field in attack mode!" Megan called out as the goblin horde re-appeared on the field ready for action Cursing his own luck, Haas stopped Angineer's attack. "Well then, my turn's over." Turn 8: Megan Megan LP: 3800, Cards: 1 Face-Up monsters, 0 spell/trap, 5 in hand Haas LP: 3600, Cards: 3 Face-Up Monsters, 2 Set Spell/Traps, 2 in hand Megan draw her next card and looked at the field wondering what best to do now. With all these equip cards maybe she should try Ben Kei, no not yet. "I'll activate the spell card, The Warrior Returning Alive to bring my Ninja Grandmaster from my graveyard back to my hand. Then I'll summon him to the field and equip him with my spell card, Divine Phoenix Blade!" The daggers in the ninja's hands vanished to be replaced with a ornate blade and his atttack shot up to 2100. "Now that I have that much attack I'll start things of with my Goblin Attack Force attacking your Kitten! Next Ninja Grandmaster will fillet your shark!" Both the monsters leapt to attack destroying the weaker monsters. Megan grinned, so far so good, her goblins laid down ready to rest and she said, "Now that that's done I'll set one card and end my turn." Haas was definitely worried at that point. There were two over 2000 beaters on her field, and Wind-Up Kitten was definitely the weakest link at the moment. An overlay unit was consumed, and he says: "Angineer, use your effect to protect Wind-Up Kitten!" at which point Kitten hurriedly covered its head with its paws, now in defense mode and indestructable after the use of Angineer's overlay unit. Shark, however, was fucked. Wind-Up Kitten- DEF 500 As she expected, Haas had saved himself from the most amount of damage, oh well, she was still well set up. Turn 9: Haas Megan LP: 3800, Cards: 1 Face-Up monsters, 1 spell/trap, 5 in hand Haas LP:2800, Cards: 2 Face-Up Monsters, 2 Set Spell/Traps, 3 in hand Drawing his next card, a smile crossed Haas' face once more as he declares: "Now, I'll normal summon Summoner Monk!", And as he spoke from a glowing portal emerged a rather strange looking monk with a hood over his head, long hair spilling well past his knees. "When Monk is normal summoned, I can immediately switch him to defense mode." Summoner Monk- DEF 1600 "Now, using his effect I discard one spell-card from my hand in order to Special Summon any level four monster from my deck, but it can't make an attack this turn," he explains before sending a card into his grave. "By dropping De-Synchro, I can special summon from my deck: Wind-Up Knight in attack mode." From a glowing portal above Summoner Monk, a human-sized toy clad in full plate-mail descended, sword in his hand and poised in a stance as if ready to attack...before Summoner Monk patted his shoulder and had him sit down beside him, the two seeming to just be relaxing for the turn. Wind-Up Knight- ATK 1800 "And now, I have two level 4 monsters." He said with an eager grin. "Yes! I can finally bring it out! I'll overlay my Wind-Up Knight with my Summoner Monk to construct the Overlay Network." he declares as the two sitting monsters turn into balls of raw eneergy, one a brilliant gold, and the other an earthy brown, spiraling into a black galaxy where they had once stood. "Lord of balance and keeper of order in the Toy Kingdom, Descend now in order to tip the scales into our favor. Xyz Summon! Appear now, Wind-Up Zenmaister!" Haas called, the Overlay Network releasing its creation. From the spiral, a massive machine even bigger than Angineer emerged, the balls of energy floating around it in a large orbit. A massive object appearing to be a scale was poised in front of it, perfectly balanced in its presence, a large golden key wound deeply inside of it's mechanism. The Wind-Up Kitten still in defense mode looked up in awe at its mechanized master, bowing its head in respect. "For every Overlay Unit attached to it, my Zenmaister will gain 300 Attack Points, which will bring him up to a grand total of 2500!" He explains as the two overlay units come to rest on the balanced scale, the perfect symmetry retained. Wind-Up Zenmaister- ATK 2500 "Next, I'll activate the effect of my Wind-Up Kitten to send your Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke back to your hand, but he can only do that once while he's face up on the field," he says, before Wind-Up kitten's eyes glew that same shade of menacing red, as it lunged at Sasuke, trying to get him to run back to Megan's hand. Megan looked at the field impressed as Haas whipped out a monster with a whooping 2500 Atk as her ninja was sent scuttling back to her hand, his sword left behind. This could be tricky but she saw a way out of this if it all worked out. "And now, I'll switch my Wind-Up Kitten over to attack position." he says, before the kitten stops cowering, growling angrily at the goblins that were sitting on their asses. Pointing at said lazy ass goblins, Haas said:"Battle Phase. Wind-Up Kitten, attack Goblin Attack Force!" Wind-Up Kitten- ATK 800 Megan was forced to watch helplessly as her goblins were shattered by the puny kitten, even worse though was what was coming next. "Now, Wind-Up Zenmaister, attack directly! Balance Breaker!", he said with a great deal of excitement as Zenmaister poised to strike, raising his fist, and consequently tipping the scale upwards in the direction of his fist. Megan winced as the holographic fist slammed directly into her causing a massive amount of damage "Angineer, let's finish this." He says, Angineer's visor lighting up as it rose into the air once more, launching a holographic missile straight at Megan, one that would end the duel if it hit. Megan looked at her hand and the field hopelessly as the missile closed in, finally she gave a resigned sigh as she watched her LP fall to 0, if only she'd had one more turn. Megan:3800->0 Shaking off the feeling of disappointment Megan strode over to Haas and stuck her hand out. "Good game," she said firmly as she looked him in the eye. Haas was quick to accept the handshake, replying back with: "That was great...I'm still not used to this deck, so it could use a lot of work, but I'd love to duel you again when we've got our recipes perfected." A grin on his face as he finishes the shake. Megan smiled in kind, "You can bet on it!"

Very few wind-ups were actually used in the production of this duel. Also Haas won. Some say that to this day, they are still trying to figure out who would go first. Kittens>Goblins

Haas got oddly beneficial draws and XYZ'd to victory, but until Zenmaister got brought out, it was pretty much a battle of attrition.
