This prolonged social encounter was wearing him out, and he had to stop it before it would cause unnecessary suspicion and even more delays. He almost preferred getting "punished" right now - The whole riddle thing was frustrating and confusing. He suddenly realizes this may be a sink-or-float sort of thing, the head honcho giving out a random mission and whoever's lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time wins.
