I remember her saying that she didn't care whether they decided to split up or stay together. Then she seemed pretty happy to dump a couple of characters and go from what I could tell. You can always push people back together with clues that lead to the same room, too.

It's a big place. People are naturally going to want to cover as much ground as possible. If you control the story, it's good to be able to counter that if you don't have another plan.
