For a man of his level he is well above average, making him a fierce hand-to-hand combatant. [*]Tactician: Though not always abundantly evident, Korian knows his way around a battlefield. Planning ahead is not his forte, but in the midst of a frenzy he can apply his experience and knowledge like no other, turning the tides of some of the most abysmal skirmishes. [*]Highly trained: A former Elite and one of Yamate's best soldiers, there is little in the way of martial arts that Korian does not know. As far as a Saiyan's repertoire goes he knows almost every trick in the book, enabling him to anticipate and counter most every tactic in a fight.
Bio: Formerly one of Yamate's Elites, and the Vice-Commander of the Saiyan Military, he has an illustrious career. Leading his forces into numerous victories under Yamate's name, he had grown to a point where just his and his men's presence on a world was enough to make forces submit. Though he performed every task assigned dutifully he rarely took enjoyment in the fact, finding it both dull and distasteful that he was sent to fight such weak opponents. Over the years he took offense to enslaving planets as well, never informed as to the reason for doing so other than being told they were needed for the empire. Eventually this distaste for conquest led him to defect from Kortal and the Saiyan Empire, taking his First Lieutenant Sayomi and several men with him. Korian's defection did not go unnoticed, and he along with the others were quickly branded enemies of the empire. Though nothing was intended to be done about it initially, the former Vice-Commander began leading strikes on conquered worlds, attempting to rid them of Saiyan control. This would inevitably force Yamate's hand, and thus would begin the Great Saiyan war. As worlds were freed and people released, Korian began to gather followers devoted to his cause, of seeing the universe restored to its once diverse, natural state free of Saiyan oppression. In spite of being a Saiyan himself his troops readily followed him, attacking planet after planet to drive off the enemy. Though they had a number of early successes, the fact remained that his forces were dwarfed by that of the Saiyan empire. Eventually they were put on the defensive, having to fall back as far as Uuonoe to seek shelter. Formerly a neutral world, the rebels were pleasantly surprised to find staunch allies in the technological wonderland, able to establish themselves there. As time passed the rebellion continued to grow, and the Saiyan empire's expansion slowed more and more. Regular strikes were made against the worlds under Saiyan control, albeit now more in guerrilla fashion than outright warfare. It was not until the arrival of the Princes that the rebels began to make strategic moves, slowly gaining footholds in key planets and beginning to drive the forces of Yamate back. There is still a long ways to go until the universe is back to its intended order, but Korian fully intends to see his mission through. Personality: A stern man and highly driven, Korian attacks any issue he deems worth his time headlong. His tireless effort to see his mission through has gained both the praise and chagrin of those around him, some criticizing the commander for pushing his troops too hard. He argues every moment spent relaxing is another someone must suffer, truly believing the rebellion to be a necessary force for freeing the oppressed masses. He is extremely protective of those in his command, a fact that earned him loyalty of many both in the Saiyan military as well as the rebellion forces; if given the chance he will make a personal effort even to save the lowest of the grunts, or send out a force to do so. Unless they are dead in battle he will not abandon any troops, believing every individual to be crucial to his efforts. Perhaps due to his nature as a Saiyan, Korian is quite vindictive. Though a generally collected and level-headed man he has been known to fly into a rage when something angers him, particularly when someone harms his troops. This anger has led him to strike out against those he likely never should have, and once cooled down he always regrets doing so. Though he is a man who appreciates the need for order and superior powers, he loathes the notion of taking away personal freedom. The idea of forcing another to work under you is an obscene thought, hence his extreme disdain of Yamate's actions. His one goal for many years had been to see the universe freed from the Saiyan's control, and to allow planets to govern themselves, as they should. If anyone chooses to follow him then he welcomes it openly, yet he never forces someone to follow his command. A bit contradictory however, there are unspoken rules, such as not taking a life if it can be helped, that he expects to be followed completely, and will become irate if it's not. Korian sees himself as a leader and as a capable warrior, but not as a ruler. He has no desire for a throne or to command the masses, nor does he believe he can. He is and always will be a soldier, and does not even consider the notion of replacing Yamate once the war is over. While taking no pleasure in causing harm he loves battle, and couldn't imagine his life without it. He can do without war, he loathes the massive loss of life, but he would gladly continue as a soldier to maintain the peace if need be. On a side note, it's interesting to see his dependency on Sayomi at times. The commander almost seems forgetful without his Lieutenant around, and has more than once admitted to needing her help in a number of areas.
