The Walking Dead: To Greener Pastures -- Always Accepting "This is the end, beautiful friend, This is the end, my only friend, the end: Of our elaborate plans, the end; Of everything that stands, the end; No safety or surprise, the end.. I'll never look into your eyes, again." - The Doors Welcome to the end, friends. This will be a casual Roleplay set in the world of The Walking Dead, but in a different setting, with no canon character. To Greener Pastures will begin in Wilmington, Delaware (southwest of Philadelphia), but will move as the characters migrate. The timeframe will start at the beginning of the outbreak. As the name suggests, the characters will be looking for a paradise of sorts: rumor has it that rural New England is much better, comparably, but getting there would involve going through some of the largest cities in the country. Not everyone is going to make it. This RP was inspired by one that I was a part of for years back on the old Roleplayer Guide site, called The Walking Dead: Northwards (it took place in Colorado and Washington state, primarily) though it shares no connection to that story, either. The zombies in this story will be consistent with the zombie in The Walking Dead, as will the deterioration of society and infrastructure. Characters will die. Everyone dies, eventually. This story likely won't end up being about the end, but about the journey. We will always be accepting new characters. At some points, I may ask that a roleplayer waits to introduce their character into the story (if too many characters have been introduced at once, or if the group is in the middle of something important, where an introduction wouldn't realistically happen), but this RP is always open. If you want to apply, fill out the Character Sheet below and post it in the OOC. Once you get my O.K., port your character over to the "Characters" tab.
These are the rules which I expect everyone (including myself) to adhere to. Failure to do so may result in your character's death -- you've been warned. 1. This is a casual roleplay, which means I expect at least one paragraph per post with proper grammar and spelling. Beyond that, it's up to you. If you have nothing more to say, don't. Which leads me to my next rule.. 2. Quality over quantity! I'd rather see two paragraphs of depth and character development than one hundred paragraphs of meaningless dialogue. 3. The GM's word is law. While I appreciate, and will certainly listen to feedback, at the end of the day what I say goes. But don't worry, I'm not going to be a dick about it. This is mainly just to keep the peace and keep things running smoothly. 4. Your character is a mortal, realistic human being. Act like it. If you run headlong into a horde, you're gonna die! Plain and simple. 5. Your characters can (and may) die. Everyone dies. Especially if you're inactive or breaking one of these here rules. Nice thing about zombie RPs? You never run out of ways to kill people off. 6. If you have a question, comment or concern, don't hesitate to PM me! 7. Don't control other characters, or huge plot events. If you've been in a roleplay before, you've heard this before and it should be obvious. The only time you're allowed to control/kill another character is if A. That character's owner allows you to, or B. They're inactive and I allow you to. 8. Keep it civil in the OOC. Debates are fine, encouraged even. Flame wars and general douche-baggery will be violently suppressed by my army of secret ninja police. 9. All players are allowed to "spawn in" five or less zombies at a time during a scene. Any larger, and you need GM/Co-GM approval. I want you to think about your character's story, I absolutely want you to think about their past. Then I want you to work it into the RP itself: tell the story, IN the story, not in the CS. Let them develop from within. --- With all that in order, let's all go out and fight a losing battle with our own fears and shortcomings! (And zombies, of course)
