 Had to check the maths on this one but it makes sense, go for it. 
Don't know if it's been mentioned yet in the RP but there's an energy sphere that forms a barrier around the town. The highest pointed of the barrier is 10 miles up and a commercial airliner typically flies at a height of 6 and a half miles up, so it checks out.

Sounds kind of similar to how Lana is introduced in the book, so maybe she could have healing powers like Lana? A healer would come in useful, and would be a good reason as to why she's able to pull herself from the wreckage of an aircraft and survive.

Of course, its up to you what her power is, just giving my thoughts.
