The Imperials are the only ones who actually have an idea of what's going on in Skyrim, and long term plans, and an actual plan to deal with the Thalmor besides barging in and trying to kill them all. The Stormcloaks are all like "I HATE THE IMPERIALS. AND THE THALMOR. And... You know what? I HATE THOSE DAMN CATS TOO! GO NORDS! HAIL ULFRIC!"
