Oh, look a Kaito fan!
Well yeah, I do like Kaito as much as Luka, Gumi and IA - wait, that's about all the Vocaloids I actually like. Oh well. (Gakupo V3 deserves a mention especially if it's tuned well. Plus his PVs are actually not bad.)
Detective Conan/Case Closed - the premise of this one is that the main character, Kudo Shinichi, is force-fed an experimental drug by a mysterious criminal syndicate. The drug shrinks him down to a seven-year-old in body, but not in mind. Shinichi has two main goals: don't let anyone know that he's Shinichi, and find the syndicate and take them down. Unfortunately, there's the problem of murders literally happening wherever he goes. Good thing he's a detective, huh? As for why I like it, the characters are well-developed, the murders are plausible but not too gory, there's a good bit of humor to counterbalance all the death, and the writing is well done and realistic. (Also worth noting is another anime that crosses over with DC sometimes - Magic Kaito. It's about a magician thief who targets gems, seeking the gem that caused the murder of his father so he can destroy it.)
Another detective/murder mystery manga I would recommend would be Kindaichi Case Files. The cases are much darker than Conan with highly intriguing setups.
Mobile Suit Gundam (Char's Counterattack, Build Fighters, Wing/Endless Waltz, OO) Gurren Lagann (Spelling?) Hajime No Ippo Sekirei (debatable there are some who are put off by the fan service but further in it gets better) Baka to Test Black Lagoon The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzimiya (movie) Hero Tales
Oh Sekirei. The manga is rather slow (feels even slower since it's a monthly release), but from third stage onwards things do get a little more interesting. I couldn't finish Baka to Test - not a fan of the yandere girls and spineless boys dynamic. I prefer Unbreakable Machine Doll, where at least the male lead would punish his yandere doll (not the dirty kind, mind you) when she went too far. For Haruhi, I pretty much gave up on the light novels after Disappearance (which is the 4th book). The first was the best, but the subsequent volumes fail to impress me.
